Round Tower Rovers v New Oak Boys B
Div Two 12/12 11:00
Round Tower Rovers 6 - 1 New Oak Boys B

Round Tower Rovers 6-1 New Oak Boys B

Round Tower Rovers continued their home winning streak against New Oak Boys B on Sunday. The game started evenly, with both teams playing on the front foot in tricky conditions. After ten minutes, Rovers went ahead when Conor Booth poked the ball in from a corner. Then Mick Keogh extended the lead for Round Tower Rovers after getting on the end of a through ball and finishing cooly to make it 2-0. Straight from the New Oak kick-off, some good football allowed New Oak's Keenan Geoghean to set up Robert Purcell, who pulled a goal back and made it 2-1. However, both sides showed outstanding commitment in the tackle, and on the half-hour mark, another long ball caught out New Oak's backline and left Mickey Keogh through on goal to claim his second of the game and put Round Tower Rovers 3-1 ahead. Rovers made it 4-0 before the break when Mick Keogh squared the ball to Paddy Brady, who got his second goal of the season by slotting past the New Oak keeper.

The second half was not as frantic with Round Tower Rovers content with their three-goal lead, but credit to New Oak, they never gave up trying to get back into the game. Nevertheless, the game was then over as a contest twenty-five minutes into the second half when Conor Booth scored again from a corner. Five minutes later, the final nail in the coffin came when Round Tower's Ruairi O'Connor scored to make the final score 6-1 in favour of Round Tower Rovers. On the day, Daniel Hayden, Jesse Clarke, and Callum Carter never stopped battling for New Oak.

St. Joseph's FC 1 - 2 Round Tower Rovers

Saint Joseph's FC 1 – 2 Round Tower Rovers

Saint Joseph's suffered their first defeat of the season at home to Round Tower Rovers on Sunday afternoon. In the first half, a poor showing from the Saints saw them go in 1-0 down at halftime. Then, a catastrophic error in the backline just one minute into the second half saw them go 2-0 down and face an uphill battle against a Round Tower side defending well. St. Joseph's dominated the second half, and Tom Mitchell had three clear chances that he couldn't convert. However, they were awarded a penalty in the 70th minute after constant pressure on the Rovers backline, which Kuba Brzezinski converted. Padraig Webb came close to equalising in the last minute when his free kick went agonisingly wide. Round Tower Rovers defended well and went home with all three points. An overall poor showing from St. Joseph's, while Robert Timmons and Kuba Brzezinski both put in a respectful performance each.

Round Tower Rovers v St. Joseph's FC
div 2 cup 17/04 11:00
Round Tower Rovers 3 - 2 St. Joseph's FC
This was another absolutely brilliant game of football between the two top teams unfolded in Timahoe on a rainy Sunday morning, but the weather certainly didn't dampen the passion and performance shown by both teams. The Saints started strong and immediately went on the attack and opened the scoring through their top goal scorer Tom Mitchell in the 5th minute when Padraig Webb drove at the heart of the Rovers defence and passed neatly for Mitchell to finish from 6 yards. The Joeys lead didn’t last long when Kieran Delaney stepped up to finish past the Joeys team from the edge of the box. The Saints pulled back in front when Fredo Eyong scored with a tidy finish at the back post, this time Mitchell becoming the provider for Eyong. A well deserved goal for Eyong, for his exceptional work rate and attacking play. Rovers equalised for a second time when a Cian Dowling Byrne shot was saved well by the keeper only to fall into the path of Enda Butler who rifled it home. Just before the break was when Rovers took the lead for the first time when a good ball from the left from Darren Byrne was send home by Ben O’Reilly, in what proved to be the match winner. The Saints began to dominate the second half by playing fantastic football for both their fans and the neutral to enjoy. Kieran Carey had a great chance to level for the Saints when he found himself with time and space in the middle of the box but his shot was blocked by a Rovers defender. The Saints tried valiantly to score their third goal of the game but for all their magnificent play they could not find the net and Rovers went through to the next round. A really fantastic game of football between both teams with Brandon Sheehan, Jack Murphy and Evan McGuire standing out for the Saints.

Round Tower Rovers 3 - 4 Slaney Rovers
Slaney found themselves 2 nil down, before good combination plays between Dominic Byrne and John Martin, with the latter`s effort rebounding off the post into the path of Lubomir Lesko for a simple tap in on 35 minutes. The newly crowned league champions restored their two goal advantage before a Byrne effort rebounded off the crossbar and ball fell kindly for Eoin Curran to blast home on 43 minutes for 3 - 2 at the break. Slaney drew parity following good build up play between Lesko and Daniel O`Brien on the left wing and a fine finish from John Martin on 70 minutes. It was going to take something special to separate the sides and Lubomir Lesko delivered with a brilliant solo goal to advance to the next round and reward the efforts of Ted Redmond, Regan Murphy and Rory McColl.

Baltinglass Town v Round Tower Rovers
Div Two 06/04 18:30
Baltinglass Town 1 - 7 Round Tower Rovers

On a wet a windy night in Baltinglass, the home side started the game on the front foot and scored after 5 minutes. A sublime long-range pass from Tom Parker fell to Gary Carroll, who made no mistake to put Baltinglass 1-0 up. However, things began to shift shortly after, and Round Tower Rovers began to dominate most of the game. With the aid of the wind, Baltinglass found it difficult to defend the constant attacking pressure put forward by Round Tower Rovers, who scored 4 goals to lead 1-4 at half time.

In the second half, Baltinglass did start the better of the two and played some nice soccer, but with an unfortunate injury to their goalkeeper, Baltinglass lost all hope of a comeback. Round Tower constantly applied the pressure on the Baltinglass defence and eventually scored 3 more goals to leave the score line as 1-7.

Round Tower Rovers v Burrin Celtic
Div Two 27/03 11:00
Round Tower Rovers 1 - 2 Burrin Celtic
On Sunday, second-placed Round Tower Rovers were marginally beaten at home by League leaders Burrin Celtic at Timahoe Community Hall. In a back and forth first half with plenty of chances, Round Tower Rovers took a 1-0 lead over their title-chasing rivals. However, Burrin's Micheal O'Leary seized a golden opportunity just 3 minutes before half-time to equalise on this very warm day in Timahoe. In the second half, this remained a hard-fought game between the two evenly matched teams. In fact, it took one moment to decide the game. A free for Burrin, taken by Adam Deacon, bounced over the Round Tower goalkeeper's head late in the second half. This goal understandably devastated the home side while also sealing the well-deserved 3 points for Burrin Celtic. Best for Burrin Adam Deacon, Sean Tracey, and Nick Mullins.

Fortbarrington FC v Round Tower Rovers
Div Two 06/03 14:00
Fortbarrington FC 1 - 5 Round Tower Rovers

Round Tower Rovers maintained their push for the Division 2 title by making the trip to Athy to take on Fortbarrington. Although coming into the game on the back of six straight defeats, Fortbarrington took the game to the visitors early, thus creating plenty of chances for teams in the first half. Nonetheless, Rovers found the breakthrough after 20 minutes, coming from the capable left boot of Mickey Keogh. Ten minutes later, Baltinglass and Keogh found another goal after a brilliant volley soared past the Fortbarrington goalkeeper. However, Fortbarrington did not let these two goals affect their desire to find the back of the net and scored one just before half-time. A beautiful over-the-top ball found Brandon Brennan in space, who coolly finished leaving the half-time score 2-1.

In the second half, Rovers pushed to score more goals to win the game. For the majority of the half, they dominated the chances and possession. Enda Butler made it 3-1 to Round Tower with a superb strike, and Mickey Keogh was unfortunate not to complete the hat trick shortly after. Nevertheless, Rovers did find two more goals against a Fortbarrington team that had given it their all. These goals came through strikes by Ben O’Reilly and Benny Quigley and ensured the 5-1 victory for Round Tower Rovers. An exciting game with plenty of opportunities, this win means that Rovers maintain their challenge within this Division 2 title race.

Rovers then found a third when Joey Quigley switched the ball to Paddy Brady, who slotted past the keeper. Halftime and the score was 3-1 in favour of Round Tower Rovers.

After the restart, Slaney's Kyle Byrne thought he had reduced the deficit with a long-range speculative effort, which then rebounded to safety off the far post. This goal ultimately left the final score as Slaney Rovers B 1 – 4 Round Tower Rovers. Best for Round Tower Rovers - Mick Keogh, Joey Quigley, and Paddy Brady. Round Tower Rovers 6-2 Vale Wanderers B

A depleted Vale side made the long journey to Timahoe to face the unbeaten Round Tower Rovers. The Timahoe side continued their goalscoring form at home. Vale dominated much of the first half, taking the game to Rovers, and sharing most of the chances and possession. However, it was Round Tower's Cian Dowling Byrne who came to the end of a through ball and slotted past the Vale keeper. 1-0 to Round Tower Rovers, who protected this lead for the rest of the half despite the heavy pressure from Vale.

The second half started slowly, but Round Tower's big men dominated as Vale struggled to get the ball down and play. Round Tower Rovers found a second goal quickly when a diving header from Conor Booth left the keeper no chance. However, Vale didn't give up and moments later had a great opportunity only for the effort from close range to be kept out by Rover’s keeper William Oxley. Still, Vale responded well, and as Lee Conran ran past a defender in the box, he was fouled, leaving the ref to award a penalty to Vale. Conran then dusted himself off to convert and make it 2-1. Although Vale couldn't build on this, the next goal proved decisive, when Enda Butler finished on the volley, beating the Vale keeper at the front post. Rovers then extended their lead further through Conor Booth. Vale further pulled one back through Conor Byrne, but goals from Cian Dowling Byrne and Bernard Wheatley late on sealed all three points for Round Tower Rovers.
