Mill Celtic 1
Mill Celtic travelled to Bagenalstown this morning looking to get back into the winning habit after a poor run of late and as the league table suggested, this would be a tight affair. Town started brilliantly but found it hard to get their shots away. James Lillis and Trevor Nolan both had shots saved from the Mill keeper. Mill did have a few half chances early in the half but nothing to trouble the town keeper. The games sole goal came 5 minutes before half time after what was arguably the best move of the match, Daniel Mackey and Killian Harney Lawler combined to set Scott Keogh down the right wing whose low cross was expertly turned home by Padraig Carmody to put Mill 1 up at the break.
The second half saw both teams struggle to get control in what was a very stop start game. Town’s task became even harder when they were reduced to ten men with half an hour to play. Town had glorious chances late in the second half to equalize as Robbie Kane and Marty Curran saw efforts sail wide. Ultimately this was a game of few chances with Carmody’s goal proving to be the winner.
Best for Mill on the day were Gary Lambe, Conor O Sullivan, and Scott Keogh while best for town were James Hickey, Trevor Nolan and Thomas Kinsella.

Mill Celtic 7
The Balitore outfit trevelled to Kilkenny on Sunday afternoon looking to preserve their 100% start to their league campaign and had no real bother in doing so. In tough conditions at the Prince Grounds Mill were quick off the blocks and raced into a 3 goal lead with Catherine Dempsey netting a hat trick. This allowed Mill to relax in possession and pick their passes , runners from midfield would cause serious problems for the Deen defense with Nicole Heeney netting a brace. Deirbhle Byrne would get in on the act with 20 to play and Rachael Whelan would get her customary goal to take home the three points. Best for the winners were Mag Nolan, Chloe Foy and Sarah Hogan

Ardattin 2
Ardattin got back to winning ways today with a 0-2 win away to Mill Celtic. A strong start from Ardattin saw Philip Smithers have an early header parried away by the Mill keeper 2 minutes into the game. Mill responded 5 minutes later with a good through ball to their number 9 but the Ardattin defence was able to deal with the threat. Ardattin had a goal disallowed shortly after, Will Doran ruled offside. James Tobin pulled off a great save from Mills Dylan Wynne on the half hour. Both teams pushed for an opener, but the score stayed 0-0 into half time. Ardattin got the opener 8 minutes into the second half with Liam Whelan scoring his second in 2 games to make it 0-1. Mill put on the pressure for a brief period then, Alan Joyce saving from a scramble in the Ardattin box. Both teams were reduced to 10 men halfway through the 2nd half, but kept the pressure on. Liam Whelan getting his second goal 8 minutes from time. Late pressure from both teams to see out the game, but 0-2 the final score and a big win on the road for Ardattin. Best for Ardattin were Philip Smithers and Liam Whelan. Best for Mill were Brian Mackey, Eric Mackey and Dylan Wynne.
more.. 26/02/2022 20:33On a wet and winding day that made it challenging for both teams, this was always going to be a game of two halves Crettyard had the wind in the first half and created some good half chances in which Noel Leech scored from one after 20 minutes. Mill began to grow in to the game and started to get a foothold in the midfield and began to apply pressure to the Crettyard defence. This was rewarded when a free kick from Eric Mackey was played back across the six yard box for Dylan Wynne to smartly finish home to make 1-1. It stayed like this until the half time whistle.
For the second half, it was Mill Celtic who had the wind at their backs and they began to boss the open fifteen minutes of the half without creating anything clear cut. With 20 minutes to go, a speculative half volley from Dylan Wynne was spilled into the goal to put Mill 2-1 up. Straight from the restart, Crettyard put a good move together when Noel Leech crossed from the right in which Farrell Cuddihy controlled and finished for a excellent goal to bring it back to 2-2. Conditions began to get really bad and the remaining of the game ended up in a sporting battle with neither side been able to add to the score line. Best for Crettyard were Jonah Kelly, Farrell Cuddihy and Jamie Conway while for Mill Paddy Dunne, Killian Harney and Michael O’Sullivan stood out.
more.. 30/01/2022 20:17The away side came with the win on a good morning for football in Ballitore and more importantly have kept in touch with the league leaders Vale Wanderers. Pats took the lead on 15 mins from a header after a free kick. Mill levelled within 5 minutes after Conor Perse tucked home. Pats regained the lead after a corner was turned into his own net by a Mill defender. Mill got a penalty when Conor Perse was hauled down and Paul Kirwan cooly slotted home sending the keeper the wrong way.
Both sides pushed hard in the 2nd half for a winner with Mill going close through Cian Lynch and Eric Mackey but it was Pats who found a winner with 5 minutes to go.
Best for Mill were Tom McGuirk, Paddy Dunne and Eric Mackey.
more.. 30/01/2022 20:13Another fairly dominant display from the Ballitore side on a cool Sunday afternoon and at this rate the golden boot could be wrapped up earlier than expected with another 4 goal haul from the prolific Rachael Whelan. Nicole Heeney. Catherine Dempsey and Jean Miley all contributed a goal each before Mag Nolan bagged a brace for herself to complete a fine start to the league campaign and reward the efforts of Natasha Tannion, Geraldine Norton and Shona Fagan
more.. 30/01/2022 20:03Parkville hosted Mill Celtic in Hawkins Lane this damp Sunday Morning. Mill Celtic started the game very well and their early pressure paid off when Padraig Carmony headed home a Dylan Wynne cross. Parkville woke up and picked up the pace from here. Some nice football saw Barry Flynn through on goal and he slotted the ball away nicely, but a late whistle ruled the goal out for offside. 5 minutes later Andy Madden played a lovely cross to the back post and Barry Flynn again hit the net with a lovely volley but unfortunately for Parkville it was also ruled offside. Mill went 2 nil up when Paul Kirwan finished a great move after half an hour. 7 minutes later Barry Flynn deservedly got his goal when he latched on to another through ball and slotted it into the bottom far corner to make it 1-2. Mill pushed on and Carmony scored again just on the stroke of halftime.
The second half was a much more even affair. On the 60-minute mark, Parkville thought they won a penalty when Jamie Byrne was taken down just inside the box. The decision could have gone either way but the referee awarded a free kick on the 18 yard line which came to nothing. There were no more goals despite some good chances at both ends. Both teams were reduced to ten men 5 minutes from time where it finished 1-3 the final score.
Best for Mill were Paddy Dunne, Paddy Moore and Padraic Carmony while best for Parkville were Martin Fitzgerald, Stephen Hunter and John Murphy.
more.. 30/01/2022 19:53The second half was a much quieter affair which saw Killeshin dominated much of the possession in search of an equalizer. Killeshin had the ball in the net when Micky McCartney finished off a great team move but the goal was disallowed for an offside. Cody Dempsey in the Mill goal had to be alert and he pulled off several great saves to keep Mill’s noses in front. Euan Cullen and Paddy Moore had chances for Mill to put daylight between the sides, but they were unable to convert. Mill were able to hold out to claim all 3 points with Cian Lynch, Paddy Dunne and Mikey Sullivan standing out for the winners. Best for Killeshin were Tim o Brien, David Byrne and Micky McCartney.
more.. 12/12/2021 20:08The second half was much of the same as first with both teams pushing hard to open up the defenses. Eric Mackey, Conor Perse and Daniel Mackey did go close for Mill but that was as good as it got for the hosts. With 15 minutes left on the clock, the first real chance presented itself from a long ball into the Mill box which rebounded around off several defenders to Darragh Kelly who saw his shot saved by Cody Dempsey in the Mill goal and he could only parry it back into the path of Dempsey to tap home to put Crettyard 1 up. Mill responded well and pushed for the equalizer but were not able to breach a stubborn Crettyard defense. 1 nil the game ended. Best for Crettyard we’re John Brennan, Jamie Conway, Keith Purcell while best for Mill were Mikey Sullivan, Paddy Dunne and Eric Mackey
more.. 05/12/2021 21:08The second half started as first half ended with one way traffic. It didn’t take Thomas Sheehan ling to complete his hat trick when he found the net 11 minutes into the half. Lord Afifra came off the bench and he slotted home only to see it chalked off for offside but he made sure of the next chance that came along with a lovely finish to make it 6-0. Thomas finished off this game how he started it with another fine finish to make it 7-0 with the last play of the game
more.. 28/11/2021 15:22Mill started the 2nd half much better but found it hard to break down a solid Bagenalstown defense who stood up to the task and limited Mill’s opportunities in front of goal. Eric Mackey and Evan Wynne did manage a couple of efforts for Mill but to no avail and Bagenalstown managed to see it out to the end. Jimmy Cullen, Eoghan Dowling and Nathan Holden stood out for the town while best for Mill were Mikey Sullivan, Ian Moore and Paul Kirwan.
more.. 28/11/2021 14:58Ardattin piled the pressure on early in the 2nd half again and got their 3rd on 60 minutes with a great shot from distance by Graham Byrne. Mill had a great chance a minute later but Dylan Wynne’s effort went agonizingly wide. Ronan Byrne made it 4-0 a couple of minutes later from a Will Doran cross, with Graham Byrne making it 5-0 in the 74th minute.
Ronan again wrapped things up late in the 2nd half to get his second and Ardattin’s sixth to make it 6-0.
Another all round great team performance from the league leaders with Eoin Murphy, Spike Brown and Shane Smith the standouts. Best for Mill were Daniel Mackey, Paul Kirwan and Conor Perse.
more.. 24/10/2021 20:56Gary Lambe's second half winner booked Celtic a place in the quarter finals and put paid to Joeys hopes in the process. The game got off to a hectic start with 3 goals in the first 7 minutes. Mill opened the scoring inside 2 minutes from the penalty spot, Kyle Corcoran was fouled, and Harry Kirwan despatched the penalty to put Celtic ahead. That lead was short lived however as Joeys levelled almost immediately, Luke Hutton opening up the hosts defence for Padraig Webb to slot home. The hectic pace continued as Celtic regained the lead, Gary Lambe getting his first of the day as he turned a Brian Mackey corner into the net. All this with only 7 minutes on the clock. With no sign of the pace slowing down Joeys were level again midway through the half, Hutton again the provider as Robert Timmons neatly finished as the sides went into the break tied 2-2. The second period saw the teams exchange missed opportunities before Mill struck the decisive blow with 20 minutes left. Dylan Wynne's cross found the head of Lambe and he made no mistake as he again put Celtic ahead. There was still plenty of time left for Joeys but a combination of good goal keeping from Paddy Moore and solid defending saw Mill through to the knockout stages and reward the efforts of Paddy Dunne, Eric Mackey and Brian Mackey. Best for St Josephs were Robert Timmons, Jack Murphy and Padraig Webb.
more.. 12/09/2021 21:14Dylan Wynne's first half strike was enough to earn Celtic the points and move them top of Group B, a win in their last game would see them through to the quarter finals. Bagenalstown started well enough but couldn't turn possession into goals, the couple of half chances they did create were easily dealt with by Harry Kirwan in the Celtic goal. As Mill grew into the game they started posing questions of the 'Town backline, Euan Cullan flashed an effort just wide when well-placed but that let off was short lived for the hosts as Wynne ran through on goal before neatly slotting home 10 minutes before the break. Bagenalstown responded well in the second half as they pushed hard for an equaliser but the closest, they came was when Cormac Lomax saw his effort from the edge of the box narrowly go over the bar. Celtic had chances to double the advantage, but Brian Mackey and Kyle Corcoran's efforts were well saved. The chances of a Bagenalstown leveller reduced further 10 minutes from time when they lost a man to a red card and Celtic comfortably held on for the win thanks largely to the efforts of Kirwan, Dylan Berry and Paddy Moore. Bagenalstown’s best were Robbie Kane, Cormac Lomax and Darren Crooks.
more.. 12/09/2021 21:11Second Division Mill Celtic upset the odds after they toppled Premier Division side Dolmen in Ballitore on Sunday morning. The hosts got off to the perfect start, hitting the front on 10 minutes through Kyle Corcoran. Both sides probed for openings for the remainder of the half but with defences on top it remained 1-0 into the break. The second half saw Dolmen reduced to 10 men on 55 minutes and that gave Mill all the incentive they needed. After a period of pressure, they added goal number 2 on 70 minutes, Paddy Dunne heading home from a free kick to give the hosts a 2-goal cushion. Shortly afterwards Dylan Wynne got himself on the score sheet as Mill ran out easy winners on a 3-0 score line rewarding the efforts of Paddy Moore, Paddy Dunne and
Kyle Corcoran.
more.. 12/09/2021 21:07Hanover began their Shield campaign with a win after this entertaining affair on Sunday morning. The hosts started at pace and were deservedly ahead on 12 minutes, Dylan Walsh's pass splitting open the Celtic back line for Colin Campion to slot home the opener. It was 2-0 10 minutes later when Walsh's 25-yard free kick found the bottom corner. Celtic were struggling to get to get a foothold and on the half hour Jack Murphy marked his first senior start with a with a well taken goal, firing low past the keeper from the edge of the box as Harps cruised into half time 3 goals to the good. Celtic made a better fist of things early in the second period and reduced the arrears on 55 minutes when Euan Cullen slotted home neatly from 12 yards. It got better for the visitors on the hour when Kyle Corcoran scored the goal of the game, his volley on the turn flying into the top corner to leave the minimum between the teams. Thoughts of a comeback were short lived however as Harps upped their game again and Adam McCarron brilliantly found the top corner from the edge of the penalty area to make it 4-2. Jack Foley finished off the scoring 5 minutes from time to get the hosts off to a winning start. Best for Hanover included Stephen Chalton, Kevin Power, Adam McCarron and Jack Murphy. Best for Mill were Cody Dempsey, Alex Mackey and Dylan Wynne
