Killeshin AFC 5 – 2 St Pat’s AFC.
Killeshin made hard work of this encounter and the first clear chance fell to Killeshin on fifteen minutes when from a corner Jack Byrne rose highest, only to see his header that was bound for the bottom corner, bringing a great save by the Pat’s keeper.
Soon after this Killeshin took a 1-0 lead when Scott Rycroft converted a penalty and at this stage Killeshin were dominating possession, but Pat’s stayed in the game and gave Killeshin a scare or two, on the counter.
Killesjin were unlucky not to extend their lead, which was down to the St Pat’s keeper who made a series of saves to deny them and Pat’s did draw level at 1-1 when a long range shot by Cian Kelly which caught the Pat’s keeper ‘napping’ and that was the half-time score.
Killeshin started the second half very quickly and it wasn’t long before Scott Roycroft got his second of the day to give Killeshin a 2-1 lead and this was followed by a goal from Aaron Dargan to make the score 3-1.
Pat’s didn’t surrender and to their credit they continued to pressurise the Killeshin defence and with only fifteen minutes to go Pat’s were awarded a penalty and Cian Kelly stepped up to score his second of the day and make it 3-2 and for a while it seemed that a comeback was on for Pat’s.
But this notion was soon blown away when Aaron Dargan who cut in and finished to the bottom corner to make it 4 -2 .
The final score of the day came when Jack Byrne made a mazy run down the left before cutting inside on the goal- line he then squared the ball to Tobi Salimon who tapped home from close range to make the final score 5-2.
Best for St Pat’s was Cian Kelly, whilst standing out for Killeshin were Conor Harte, James Brennan and Jake Haughney.
