New Oak Boys 0
Vale Wanderers 3
Vale kept up the pressure on the league leaders when they travelled to Carlow to take on New Oak on Sunday.
The visitors had some good early chances with Craig Doyle and Tommy Cummins going close. The home side began to settle and Peter Fagan went close. Sol Yabre missed an excellent opportunity for Boys and Vale sprung a counterattack and Willie Kavanagh set up Jack Treacy to finish on 30 minutes. The remainder of the half was even with Vale leading at half time
The Leighlinbridge side dominated the second half. Willie Kavanagh went close on two occasions before eventually getting on the scoresheet after Jack Treacy played him through on 55 minutes. Tommy Cummins sealed the victory when Jack Treacy pinged a great cross field ball and the young striker surprised everyone by heading the ball back across the goalie and into the net. James Dowling then came on to make his debut as Vale saw out the game.
Best for Vale were Cormac O'Hara, Craig Doyle and Jack Treacy. Best for New Oak were Johnny Furey, John Gilligan and Jack Lawler.
