New Oak Boys 0
Slaney Rovers 0
Defending champions New Oak missed a chance to go top of the league after been held goalless by current table toppers Rovers.
The hosts had the lion’s share of possession throughout but Rovers were determined in defence and looked dangerous at times on the counterattack. Andy Wall had the hosts first sight on goal as he flashed an effort wide midway through the half. Lee Murphy was next up for the Boys but his header from a Dean Kelly cross just cleared the bar. Rovers best chance of the half fell to Lubomir Lesko but he also failed to keep his effort on target as the teams went into the break goalless.
The second half was more of the same, New Oak with the possession and Rovers trying to hit them on the break. Michael Foley had an early chance for the visitors but Keelan Gaffney in the New Oak goal dealt with his effort before his opposite number Fergal Harmon was called on to keep out Will Hayes. New Oak piled on the pressure in the last 20 minutes with David Doyle and Craig Wall driving them on from midfield but they just couldn’t prise open a stubborn Rovers rear-guard and had to be content with a share of the spoils despite a very good team performance.
Best for Slaney included Regan Murphy, Eoin Curran and Lubomir Lesko.
