Hanover Harps B v St. Joseph's FC
Div Two 21/11 14:00
Hanover Harps B 1 - 5 St. Joseph's FC

Hanover Harps B 1 -5 St. Joseph’s FC

On Sunday afternoon, Saint Joseph's continued their unbeaten run with a strong away win vs Hanover Harps B. Joseph's Tom Mitchell opened the scoring during the 15th minute. He found himself one-on-one with the Hanover keeper after a fine through ball from Kuba Brzezinski, leaving Mitchell to pass the ball around the opposing keeper calmly. Mitchell scored his and St. Joseph's second of the game in the 25th minute when the ball ricocheted off a Hanover defender and found the opposite bottom corner. Hanover came back strong, forced an OG of their own, and had some excellent opportunities to level through Dillon Murphy, Vinny Oba, Pa Carr, and Aaron Kinsella, all of which missed. Joseph's Daniel Donegan scored the pick of the game's goals when he saw the Hanover keeper off his line, he struck the ball from 40 yards out, and it sailed into the net.

During the second half, Hanover was comfortable in possession but susceptible to the counterattacks, which would prove the difference. St. Joseph's team captain Webb scored a classy goal on the 65th minute when Brzezinski played him down the left, and Webb chipped the keeper to make it 4-1 to the Saints. Brzezinski finished off a fine display from the young and talented Saints team. He outmuscled and turned the Hanover left back to score a well-deserved goal.

It was a hardworking and impressive team performance for Saint Joseph's and their players Evan McGuire, Kuba Brzezinski, and Padraig Webb. A harsh score line for an improving Hanover team and Brandon Redmond, Vinny Oba, Mick Ryan and Darragh Brennan

Round Tower Rovers v Vale Wanderers B
Div Two 21/11 11:00
Round Tower Rovers 6 - 2 Vale Wanderers B

Round Tower Rovers 6-2 Vale Wanderers B

A depleted Vale side made the long journey to Timahoe to face the unbeaten Round Tower Rovers. The Timahoe side continued their goalscoring form at home. Vale dominated much of the first half, taking the game to Rovers, and sharing most of the chances and possession. However, it was Round Tower's Cian Dowling Byrne who came to the end of a through ball and slotted past the Vale keeper. 1-0 to Round Tower Rovers, who protected this lead for the rest of the half despite the heavy pressure from Vale.

The second half started slowly, but Round Tower's big men dominated as Vale struggled to get the ball down and play. Round Tower Rovers found a second goal quickly when a diving header from Conor Booth left the keeper no chance. However, Vale didn't give up and moments later had a great opportunity only for the effort from close range to be kept out by Rover’s keeper William Oxley. Still, Vale responded well, and as Lee Conran ran past a defender in the box, he was fouled, leaving the ref to award a penalty to Vale. Conran then dusted himself off to convert and make it 2-1. Although Vale couldn't build on this, the next goal proved decisive, when Enda Butler finished on the volley, beating the Vale keeper at the front post. Rovers then extended their lead further through Conor Booth. Vale further pulled one back through Conor Byrne, but goals from Cian Dowling Byrne and Bernard Wheatley late on sealed all three points for Round Tower Rovers. Best for Vale on a disappointing afternoon were PJ Haughney, Lee Conran, and Conor Byrne.

New Oak Boys B v Baltinglass Town
Div Two 21/11 14:00
New Oak Boys B 2 - 3 Baltinglass Town

New Oak Boys B 2-3 Baltinglass Town

On a crisp Autumn Day in Carlow, New Oak Boys B met Baltinglass Town, with both teams attempting to keep the pressure on St. Joseph's at the top of the Division 2 table. Both teams seemed evenly matched from the get-go, with both sets of players applying pressure on the ball and defending well. With thirty minutes played in the first half, Baltinglass took the lead after the New Oak defence's mistake was punished; Declan Faulkner was on hand to tap home and score the opening goal. Five minutes later, Baltinglass were reduced to ten players, leaving them to change their shape. However, the change worked and did not stop Baltinglass from doubling their lead through a Gary Carroll header and another lapse in the New Oak defence. Baltinglass then got a quick third goal when Chris Sutton ran onto a ball from Kevin Osbourne, who lobbed the onrushing New Oak keeper with a fine finish. Credit to New Oak, they did not let their heads drop, and fifteen minutes of the second half, Pa Kavanagh reduced the deficit with a fine header. New Oak continued pushing forward and created some chances, but Baltinglass were a constant threat on the break. Midway through the half, New Oak was then also reduced to ten players. With ten minutes remaining, Robert Purcell set up an exciting finish when he pulled another goal back for New Oak. The game was end-to-end for the final ten minutes, but Baltinglass showed resilience and held out for the three points. Best for New Oak were Cian Maddock, Daniel Hayden, and Keenan Geoghegan. Best for Baltinglass were Kevin Osbourne, Tom Parker, and Chris Sutton

Burrin came into this game with good results and wanted to continue the excellent form today away to Slaney Rovers B. It took a while to get going, but Liam McGuill broke the deadlock after 30 minutes from a corner after constant pressure from Burrin. McGuill doubled Burrin's lead to 2-0 after 40 minutes to see it 2-0 at halftime. In the second half, it was all Burrin as they continued to play great football in the wide areas of the pitch to beat Slaney. The second half started as first half ended with one way traffic. It didn’t take Thomas Sheehan ling to complete his hat trick when he found the net 11 minutes into the half. Lord Afifra came off the bench and he slotted home only to see it chalked off for offside but he made sure of the next chance that came along with a lovely finish to make it 6-0. Bagenalstown AFC v Vale Wanderers
Div One 21/11 11:00
Bagenalstown AFC 0 - 2 Vale Wanderers
Bagenalstown AFC02Vale Wanderers

Bagenalstown started the 2nd half in control of the game but as time went on, Vale’s new system began to click, and the breakthrough came on 75 minutes. Charlie Nolan cut in from the left and whipped in a cross which rebounded off the post, Paddy McDonnell reacted first to secure the ball and set up Cormac O’Hara who fired it into the top corner from the edge of the box to put the visitors in the lead. Bagenalstown were then reduced to 10 men after 2 yellow cards, and this gave Vale the advantage. Vale’s game didn’t change and still took the game to the town, and got their just rewards when super sub Charlie Nolan finished excellently into the near post leaving the goalkeeper standing, after some good link up from Rob Bulmer & Paddy McDonnell to finish the game off. Bagenalstown had the last chance of the game when they were awarded an indirect free on the 6-yard box. Robbie Kane set Cormac Lomax who struck a shot but Vale had bodies on the line to keep the clean sheet and cleared the danger.

Best for Vale we’re Jack Treacy, Liam Ryan, with Paddy McDonnell and Charlie Nolan making a massive impact from the bench while Dion Wall, Eoghan Dowling and Trevor Nolan never stopped working for the Town.
