Deen Celtic v Newpark AFC
Ladies league 20/03 14:00
Deen Celtic 1 - 2 Newpark AFC
Newpark started this game much the sharper and when Riah Lawson powered home a header inside the opening 5 minutes one could be forgiven for thinking this would be a long afternoon for the Castlecomer side given the league positions and current form. Not a bit of it to be fair to Celtic. Newpark did however double their lead on twenty minutes when Lawson was on hand to grab her second as she lobbed the advancing keeper with the deftest of finishes. Celtic got their chance to reduce the arrears straight away with a sublime defense splitting pass, 2-1 at the break. The second half was a scrappy affair in truth with Celtic decent in possession but never really turning the Newpark defense and Newpark themselves contributing to the second half stalemate being wasteful in front of goal despite smacking the crossbar late on . Best on the day for the victors were Kellyanne Moran, Annie Dunne and goal hero Riah Lawson

Deen Celtic 1

Mill Celtic 7

The Balitore outfit trevelled to Kilkenny on Sunday afternoon looking to preserve their 100% start to their league campaign and had no real bother in doing so. In tough conditions at the Prince Grounds Mill were quick off the blocks and raced into a 3 goal lead with Catherine Dempsey netting a hat trick. This allowed Mill to relax in possession and pick their passes , runners from midfield would cause serious problems for the Deen defense with Nicole Heeney netting a brace. Deirbhle Byrne would get in on the act with 20 to play and Rachael Whelan would get her customary goal to take home the three points. Best for the winners were Mag Nolan, Chloe Foy and Sarah Hogan

Crettyard United came out on top in this derby encounter in Kileen on Sunday afternoon. Crettyard created all the early chances but found the Celtic keeper in inspired form who produced some stunning saves. The home side kept persisting and were rewarded in the 25th minute when Suzanne Meagher created space for herself down the right wing and her first time cross found the head of Aisling Behan who made no mistake from close range. The second goal would follow shortly and it was a carbon copy of the first, this time it was Tamara Agar who was hand to slot home. Both sides created chances for the remainder of the game but were guilty of wasting those opportunities and Crettyard held out for a deserved 3 points in a tough contest.Best for the winners were Aisling Behan, Tamara Agar, Suzanne Meagher and Patrice Whelan

Deen Celtic v Vale Wanderers
Ladies league 30/01 14:00
Deen Celtic 0 - 1 Vale Wanderers

Vale came out on top in this evenly contested encounter in Castlecomer on Sunday afternoon. Celtic were tidy in possession but it was the direct style of Vale that would create the bulk of the chances.Aoife Roche had the first real clear cut chance on 20 mins but her shot from a tight angle just missed the far post. Moments later Susan OLeary breached the Celtic defense but was denied by a wonderful last ditch tackle to keep parity. Celtic probably should have taken the lead just before the break when they were awarded a penalty but Lisa Dermody in the Vale goal did her job. Philomena Murphy was brought down at the edge of the penalty area right on half time and the subsequent free kick was well saved. The second half was starting to become a scrappy affair with balls over the top not really hurting the Celtic defense but near the death one such ball would prove decisive when Roche got on the end of one and fired her shot off only for the Celtic keeper to parry it into the path of OLeary whowas on hand to tap home and collect the three points.

Best for the victors were Shauna ONeill, Aoife Roche, Stacey Hennessy and Michelle Dermody

Newpark AFC v Deen Celtic
Ladies league 16/01 11:00
Newpark AFC 2 - 1 Deen Celtic
Newpark were slow out of the gates in this encounter and probably deservedly fell behind on 12 minutes when Celtic sprung the offside trap and the striker with a delicate chip over the advancing keeper to open the scoring. This seemed to shake some life into Newpark and they began to dominate large parts of the game from here. Celtic almost got to the break with the lead but were undone in the 44th minute when a fantastic team move involving Sinead McGrane, Tina Wright and Millie Molloy released McGrane to slot home for parity. The second half became a midfield battle with some proper tackles on display. One moment of magic in the 50th minute from Ria Lawson would decide the outcome however, a stunning strike from the right side, all of 30 yards on the angle to reward the efforts of Ciara Delaney, Maddie Lawson and Rachael Wall while it was a decent team effort from the Deen Celtic unit

Kilree Celtic 0

The ladies of Kilree Celtic and Deen Celtic got their season off to a great start this Sunday afternoon. The Deen Celtic ladies came out on top by beating Kilree Celtic 4- 0 in The Prince Grounds. Although the scoreline did not reflect the ability of the Bagnelstown women, who were quite physical with some very skilfull players, the Deen Celtic Ladies drove the game from the very start. There was robust work by defenders on both sides with some superb clearances and play out from the back lines in front of two very solid keeper. The mi field players held the ball very well with some great through balls to the forward line. The first half finished with the home side one up, courtesy of Clodagh Hanlon who continued with her accurate shooting throughout the 2nd half. Hazel Moore added to the score line fairly quickly into the 2nd half to put Deen Celtic 2 up. This seemed to give the Deen Celtic Ladies the confidence to drive and press forward with several shots on goal and many of which could have notched up more scores only for the excellent goalkeeping of the Kilree Celtic goal keeper. Following some great display of football Clodagh Hanlon managed to slot away 2 more goals for Deen Celtic to claim her hat-trick, one with a wonderful header to the top corner. The Deen Celtic Ladies are now out of the blocks and are very much looking forward to the rest of the season and would welcome any new members interested in joining them. Best for Kilree were Lauren Kelly, Rebecca Doran, Megan O’ Dwyer and Sara Clarke.

A hat trick on his debut from Danny Doyle eased United into the next round against neighbours Celtic on Sunday.

After a scoreless first half the game came to life ten minutes into the second when Celtic hit the front. This was the spark which set half time substitute Doyle alight. He levelled matters eight minutes later with a stunning strike from 20 yards. Shortly afterwards he netted his second after good work from Lee Salter and Salter was again the provider as Doyle completed his hat trick as United led 3-1 on 75 minutes. Salter was rewarded for his efforts as he netted the fourth after Colin Osbourne found him in space and he finished neatly to make it 4-1 and finish off the scoring.

Best for Crettyard included Niall Purcell, Colin Osborne and Danny Doyle.
