Newpark looked most likely to take the lead and they did when Tracey Bourke headed in a pinpoint cross from the right wing from close range. The goal sparked some life into the visitors as they put some pressure on the home side, while Newpark also had their opportunities but neither side could find the net as the Kilkenny side went in 1-0 up at half-time.

Parkville had a lot of opportunities in the second half as they were trying to get back into the game, but they couldn’t find a way to finish the opportunities that came to them. Newpark remain on top of the league after they held off Crettyard United to come away with a draw.

The strong winds helped Crettyard create numerous chances with Colleen Rickard, Grainne Fogarty, and Aisling Behan all having opportunities to break the deadlock, but they couldn’t break down the Newpark backline or find a way past their goalie. Crettyard were putting Newpark under immense pressure throughout the half and this pressure led to their best chance of the half, which fell to Lauren McGrath as she pounced on a short goal kick she ran free and with only the goalie to beat but she failed to beat the goalie.

Newpark improved in the second half as they created a few opportunities but like the first half, Crettyard had the best chances. Many of them fell to the usually clinical Aisling Behan but she could not hit the target with the opportunities that fell her way as both sides played out a scoreless draw.

Best for Crettyard were Aisling Behan, Colleen Rickard and Grainne Fogarty while it was a spirited team performance from Newpark as they maintained their top position while Crettyard are a point behind in third place.
