Five goals in each half saw Wolfhill clinch the title with a game to spare.

Killeshin were in trouble from the start as the could only muster ten players, and Wolfhill took advantage with a brace of goals each from Colin Campion and Sean Meaney and one from Philip Brennan to lead by five at the break.

Things got worse for the home side when they were reduced to nine men through injury early in the second half and Wolfhill ran in five more goals through sun Bernard Wheathley with two, Billy Campion, sub Noel Leech and Garry Rowan scoring for the fifth game on the trot which had a big say seeing the title going to the Laois side.

PJ Rowan, Sean Meaney and Ciaran Carroll shone for the Champions while for Killeshin Conor Mulhall, Cathal Dooley and Colin Fitzgerald fought hard.

A Wolfhill side who never led until the extra time finally put away Fiacc’s to qualify for a Final meeting with Nurney.

The home side were quick in to their stride and were 2-0 up after ten minutes. Fiacc’s were the better side for the first quarter and deserved their lead however they were undone on 28 minutes when a long throw in from Garry Rowan found the head of Sean Meaney who made it 2-1. The visitors levelled on 44 minutes when Colin Campion scored after a goal mouth scramble however Fiacc’s hit back immediately to score and take back a deserved lead at half time.

The second half saw Wolfhill hit back to level again and this time again a long throw in from Garry Rowan unhinged the Saints defence and Sean Meaney headed home his second goal if the game. An outstanding strike from Fiacc’s winger restored the lead for the home side on 70 minutes. Five minutes later however and yet again another long throw in from Rowan was this time headed in by Sean O’Reilly to force extra time. In the extra period Wolfhill hit the front for the first time and yet again it was a long throw in from Rowan that led to Sean Meaney claiming his hat trick. Fiacc’s concentration then seemed to waver and a Colin Campion lob over the keeper put his side 4-6 up, and Enda Butler put the icing on the cake with goal number seven.

Outstanding for the winners were Ciaran Carroll, Noel Leech, Garry Rowan and Sean Meaney.
