Wolfhill collected the points at home against a Joeys side who frustrated them for a long time with a stubborn defensive performance. There was little happening in the 1st half with Joeys containing the Wolfhill attacks easily without offering g a lot up front themselves. Scoreless at the break the Co Laois side soon made the breakthrough when Colin Campion flicked on a free kick to Billy Campion who centred for Paddy Hickey to finish from point blank range. Joeys equalised almost immediately, and the sides were level again in the 55th minute. 2 goals in the space of 4 minutes decided the destination of the points, Enda Butler sent a screamer to the visitors net on 67 minutes and then a Butler shot deflected past an excellent Joeys keeper off a defender in the 70th minute. Mark Brennan then got on the scoresheet in the 73rd minute and there was no way back for Joeys. Podge Kelly, Billy Campion and Enda Butler excelled for the winners.

Wolfhill were emphatic winners in the Swan over a misfiring Nurney side. The home side held the upper hand all through but the 1st half was a close enough contest as Nurney fought hard to contain their opponents and the half ended scoreless with chances at both ends not being converted. However, 5 minutes into the new half Michael Keogh caught Villa keeper off his line and a sweet lob put Wolfhill ahead. Nurney tried to respond but were always second best and the home side went further ahead on 63 minutes when Mark Brennan turned in a cross from close range. The third goal came from a Colin Campion penalty awarded after Philip Brennan was fouled in the area. Just to make sure of the win Colin Campion volleyed in a fourth goal near the close. PJ Rowan, Paddy Hickey and Michael Keogh impressed for the winners, with Eamon Dowling, Colin Townsend and Brian Carroll best for Nurney.

Nurney’s unbeaten run in Division Three came to a halt against a strong Wolfhill side.

It was end to end in the first half with little chances for either side. Adam Waugh in the visitors’ goal did have to make a smart save from a Philip Murphy shot on the half hour. Then just on half time the visitors launched a quick attack and Enda Butler broke the deadlock with a snap shot low to the net.

The third quarter was again evenly fought out with Nurney unable to penetrate through a solid Wolfhill defence and when a defender for Villa lost possession on the halfway line Colin Campion broke away to shoot a second for Wolfhill and the writing was on the wall for the home side. PJ Rowan put the visitors further ahead with a retaken penalty after he blasted the first kick high and wide and then Michael Keogh dispossessed a defender and laid the ball on to Enda Butler for a fourth goal, with Villas lone reply from Colin Townsend only a consolation late on.

Excellent for the winners were Ciaran Carroll, Enda Butler and Michael Keogh, trying hard for Nurney were Eamon Dowling, John Paul Stringer and Brian Carroll

Wolfhill had a hard-fought win at home on Sunday over a gallant Stars side.

The first half was keenly fought out with chances at a premium, Wolfhill did have the best of them when they were awarded a penalty after 33 minutes but Billy Campions effort for the spot was saved by the Stars keeper.

The half ended scoreless and it wasn't until 60 minutes that the breakthrough came when a long clearance from goalie Adam Waugh was taken down by Colin Campion who laid it off to Michael Keogh who stroked the ball home. As the visitors tired Wolfhill took a stranglehold on the game and Michael Keogh doubled the lead after he eluded a couple of defenders and put the ball in the far corner of the net. Stars came with a late surge but Adam Waugh in the home goal denied both Robert Ryan and Shane Carroll with outstanding saves to ensure victory for Wolfhill.

Adam Waugh, Ciaran Carroll and Sean Meaney were outstanding for Wolfhill for Stars John Connors, Ian St Leger and Robert Ryan were noteworthy.

As the game entered the last quarter it was all to play for in this tie despite the home side having dominated proceedings they only led 2-1.

Then, however a headed goal from Paddy Hickey put them in a commanding position and they went on to add four more goals against a tiring Joseph’s side for a comfortable win. The home side led 2-0 at half time with goals from Colin Campion and Declan Murphy.

Joseph’s pulled a goal back on 66 minutes after Adam Waugh pulled off a fine save in the Wolfhill goal the loose ball was swept home by a Joeys attacker but then Hickey’s goal gave his side a boost and the goals flowed with Billy Campion instrumental in setting up the chances, Colin Campion notched two more and sub Bernard Wheatley also got on the score sheet with two goals as Wolfhill ran out Comfortable winners.

Enda Butler, Paddy Hickey, Colin Campion and man of the match Billy Campion impressed for Wolfhill.
