This was an game that was evenly fought with St Joseph's having the best of the first half but it was Vale who took the lead after 20mins and 5 mins later St Joseph's we're level when Conor Clonan broke through the Visitors defence line to run through and score with a great left foot finish this was a spark for some good football being played by St Joseph's and they were rewarded for their good play when John Fleming scored to give the home side the lead 2-1.St Joseph's we're on top at this stage and scored again when Ian Walker scored after some more good play it was 3-1 at H/T. The second saw Vale Wanderers playing alot better and slowly getting on top and had a chance to reduce the home side lead from the spot but failed to do so. Another chance came for Vale but the goal was disallowed and as the pressure mounted on the home side finally Vale scored with 10 mins left to make it 3-2 .There were chances for both sides in the last few mins but it was the home side who held on to get a fine win .F/T 3-2.

Wolfhill Athletic 4

St Joseph’s 1

Wolfhill collected the points at home against a Joeys side who frustrated them for a long time with a stubborn defensive performance. There was little happening in the 1st half with Joeys containing the Wolfhill attacks easily without offering g a lot up front themselves. Scoreless at the break the Co Laois side soon made the breakthrough when Colin Campion flicked on a free kick to Billy Campion who centred for Paddy Hickey to finish from point blank range. Joeys equalised almost immediately, and the sides were level again in the 55th minute. 2 goals in the space of 4 minutes decided the destination of the points, Enda Butler sent a screamer to the visitors net on 67 minutes and then a Butler shot deflected past an excellent Joeys keeper off a defender in the 70th minute. Mark Brennan then got on the scoresheet in the 73rd minute and there was no way back for Joeys. Podge Kelly, Billy Campion and Enda Butler excelled for the winners.
