Killeshin/Hanover FC v Burrin Celtic
23/02 14:30
Killeshin/Hanover FC 3 - 2 Burrin Celtic

Killeshin/Hanover 3

Burrin Celtic 2

For the first time, in a while, Killeshin/Hanover started on the front foot and they should have been in front on ten minutes, when Mikey Dempsey, intercepted a short goal-kick, but he shot wide from close range.

However, on seventeen minutes, Mikey Dempsey made amends, when a forty yard ‘pin-point’ pass from Shane Murphy, was controlled on his chest and he calmly volleyed into the bottom corner for 1-0. Five minutes before the interval, Dylan Regan’s pace, got in behind the Burrin defence, ‘one on one’ with their keeper and he was brought down for a penalty, which he duly converted for 2-0. With the interval looming, there was still time for Dylan Gately to fire in a shot which hit the crossbar and immediately, afterwards Dylan Regan also hit the woodwork and half-time came with Killeshin/Hanover holding a deserved 2-0 lead.

Burrin rang the changes for the second-half and it paid early dividends, as Lorcan Doyle was fouled in the box and Eli Byrne slotted the ball home to make it 2-1. The Burrin keeper then mis-hit a kick-out, which was picked up by Dylan Gately, some forty yards out and he unleashed an unstoppable effort into the top corner to make it 3-1. Then with only ten minutes to go, some great skill by Burrin’s Daniel Smyth, enabled him to find Aaron Bolger free in the box, but his effort hit the bar, but Eli Byrne got on to the rebound and he scored for his brace and 3-2, with everything to play for. Burrin were now, well on top and they created a half a dozen chances, but they were all spurned and Killeshin/Hanover held on to take all three points.

Standing out for Killeshin/Hanover were Dylan Gately Danny Brennan, Kaelum Hand and Josh Lacken, whilst impressing for Burrin were Oisin Kelly, Andrew Skelly and Eli Byrne.
