Mill recorded an emphatic victory in the battle of the Celtics in Ballitore on Sunday and in doing so clinched the Division Two title.

Mill scored three times in the first half with strikes from Geraldine Norton, Deirbhile Byrne and the prolific Mag Nolan. The home side kept up the tempo after the break but found the Kilree keeper in good form. Mill finally found the net again on 60 minutes when Rachel Fennin netted after a good move down the right. By the time the game finished Mill had emptied the bench with substitutes such as Aishling Woods and Emma Murphy making impressive cameos. Captain Pamela Grufferty was presented with the trophy afterwards to the delight of everyone associated with Mill Celtic.

Best for Mill Celtic on the day were Deirbhile Byrne, Muireann Fagan, and Megan Grufferty.

Division Two champions Mill travelled to the Superbowl on Sunday and with nothing at stake it produced a very entertaining spectacle despite the conditions.

With both defences stretched in the early exchanges it would be the visitors who would strike with the only goal of the game on 20 minutes with a fine finish. Vale had their chances to get on the score sheet but just couldn’t connect with that final pass and were left frustrated.

Best for a gallant Vale were Orlando Sawyer, Carmel Cummins and Noleen Maher.

Mill travelled to Kilkenny on Sunday and on paper caused somewhat of an upset defeating their Division One opponents with ease. Mill hit the ground running and were two up early. Newpark tried in vain to recover and Mill started the second half with the same intensity and were soon four up and out of sight.

Best for Newpark we’re Rachael Wall and Tracey Bourke.

A resurgent New Oak inflicted a rare home defeat on Mill Celtic in Ballitore on Sunday.

The Carlow town side did not get off to the best of starts but grew into the game and Sol Yabre, Barry O’Driscoll and Cathal Myers dominated the exchanges. They eventually opened the scoring when O’Driscoll crossed for Sol Yabre to head home. O’Driscoll was in flying form at this point and another one of his pin point crosses was turned home by Tomiwa Badun. Boys increased their lead when Kealan Brennan’s corner kick was deflected into the goal after some six-yard pinball to give them a 3-0 interval lead.

Things did not get much better for the home side in the second half and Sol Yabre pounced on a goalkeeping error to see out the game with his second of the day. Mill fought back to their best and were rewarded for their hard work when Sean Higgins scored after a nice through ball by Shane Molloy.

Best for New Oak were keeper Harry Hynes, Corey Harmon for his heroic defending and Barry O’Driscoll’s pinpoint accurate crosses. Best for Mill on a bad day overall were Sean Higgins, Shane Molloy, and Wesley Mackey.

Mill Celtic lost to high fliers Kilree Celtic in Ballitore on Sunday afternoon. The home side can count themselves as extremely unlucky as they played some of their best football of the season but were hit with two sucker punches, one in each half. Kilree took the lead through Alan Salter on 20 minutes and were unlucky not to double their lead on 30 minutes when Alan McDonalds shot went just wide. On 60 minutes David Kelly did double Kilree’s after bursting forward one on one with the Mill Keeper and slotting home to secure the win for Kilree. Best for Mill on the day were Wesley Mackey, Scott, Keogh, and Harry Kirwan. Best for Kilree Alan Salter, Paul Kehoe, Stephen Salter and Victor Watkins.
