It was all to play for in a tough encounter in Hawkins Lane. Unbeaten Parkville faced a Mill side fresh for a big win last weekend. It was Parkville who went ahead through an Elaine Kavanagh corner which bounced in the box and Celine Slye was first to react to slot it home, 1-0. Mill fought back quickly and equalised when a ball was swung in from the left and headed home 1-1. Parkville were back in front when Rachel Whelan opened up the Mill defence and her shot from distance lobbed the Mill Celtic's keeper. 2-1 HT

Kavanagh was on hand again, a right-side corner finding Nicole Sinnott her pass to Slye who rattled it into the Mill Celtic goal 3-1. Kavanagh would get a goal of her own when her long-range effort caught out Mill's keeper 4-1. Parkville were able to maintain pressure with the introduce of Bridget Kenny and Roisin Flynn. Mill Celtic keep pushing and were unlucky not to get another, but Park's defence weren't for breaking. Great play from Sinnott and Aoife Dunne would see Dunne getting Parkville's 5th of the day FT 5-1.

Best for Parkville were Mayala Flynn, Elaine Kavanagh and Karen Jones

Mill Celtic got the better of near neighbours Baltinglass in Parkmore on Sunday.

The home side started the better against the wind with Phil Penrose and Gaz Doyle dominating the midfield. The visitors created the first chance on eight minutes but Euan Cullen’s low driven shot was palmed away to safety by the Baltinglass goalkeeper. Balto took over for a period and on 15 minutes a through ball from Gaz Doyle found Gary Owens who lobbed the on-rushing keeper. The Wicklow side continued to dominate with Celtic doing their best work on the counter attack. Mill’s only other chance of the half came from a Sean Higgins effort while Balto were denied going two up when Paddy Kelly saw his header cleared off the line before the break.

In the second half Balto started to sit in a little more and the Ballytore side started to find a few gaps but Balto doubled their lead when the visitors’ keeper fumbled and Sean Horan was on hand to tap home. Mill pulled a goal back through substitute Andy Horan when he turned home a Shane Molloy cross before James Gahan in the Balto goal pulled off a great save when Euan Cullen was through on goal. Celtic upped their game and soon equalised when Gary Lambe headed home from a Dylan Wynne corner. With their tails up now the Kildare side pushed on and with five minutes remaining they scored following a long throw in by Paddy Mackey and Sean Higgins poked the ball home. Balto almost snatched a share of the points when John Martin headed just wide at the death.
