The visitors upped their game in the second half and Shane Quirke and Andy Horan had good chances. Slaney made sure of the points when an Eoin Curran shot was cleared into the path of Daniel O’Brien and he fired home on 78 minutes. Celtic fought bravely but couldn’t the reward their play deserved.

Best for the winners were Regan Murphy, Michael Foley and Padraig Corcoran while Brian Mackey, Shane Molloy and Shane O’Neill excelled for Mill.

Crettyard United B 0 - 3 Slaney Rovers

Crettyard United 0

Slaney Rovers 3

The Rathvilly side made the long trip to Crettyard and came away with all three points to maintain their title challenge.

The visitors got off to a dream start when Keith Curran headed home an in-swinging corner from Paddy Farrell on six minutes. They continued to dominate and doubled their lead when Farrell squared the ball into the path of Paul Curran who shot low and hard to the far corner. The home goalie pulled off a fine save from a point-blank effort from Daniel O`Brien, only for the ball to fall kindly for Paul Curran who made no mistake from six yards to lead 3-0 at the break.

In the second half the Laois side came more into the game and Fergal Harmon was forced into two good saves to deny them a foothold into game.

Outstanding for the winners were Shane Murphy, Shane McGannon and Regan Murphy.
