Newpark AFC v Vale Wanderers
20/10 14:00
Newpark AFC 2 - 2 Vale Wanderers

Newpark FC 2

Vale Wanderers 2

For the third game on the spin Newpark found themselves a goal up inside of five minutes and again it was dead ball specialist Jane Meagher who found the top corner with a 25-yard free kick. Vale were soon level when Shauna O’Neill’s long ball from the back line fell to the feet of Susan O’Leary who cleverly drew the keeper and calmly slotted home to the empty net. On 25 minutes Vale turned the game on its head when they took the lead when good play in the back line from Amanda Dermody and Shauna o Neill delivered to the ball to Philomena murphy who beat her player and delivered a great ball to Aoife Roche who made no mistake of putting it in the net. It stayed that way until half time.

Newpark started the second half much better than the first with some good passing and were unlucky not to draw level when Denise Doyle poked the ball past Vale keeper but this was cancelled due to an offside. Newpark kept pressing and had another goal disallowed for a hand ball. Newpark must have thought it was going to be one of those days. While pressing high up the pitch they finally got their reward with a deft flick over the Vale keeper by Denise Doyle which brought the game level. Both teams created chances looking for a winner but a draw ended up being a fair result in an evenly contested game.

It was an all-round good team performance from Vale while Denise Doyle, Joanne Walsh and Tracey Bourke shone for Newpark.

Gorey Rangers 6 - 1 Vale Wanderers

Gorey Rangers 6

Vale Wanderers 1

A much-depleted Vale side made the long trip to Gorey and were made to pay the price as the home side advance to the next round.

The home side raced into a 3-0 lead by half time with the visitors getting very little return for their efforts.

In the second half Vale did improve but again would concede three sloppy goals. Lee Conran did pull a goal back for Vale when he volleyed home from the edge of the box late on.

Vale Wanderers 6

Crettyard United ‘B’ 1

Vale kept up their 100% record as they cruised to victory over Crettyard ‘B’ at the Superbowl. Vale kicked into gear immediately with the front three who combining to open the scoring. Willie Kavanagh turned in midfield and played in Lee Conran who then found John Miley who finished from a tight angle. Miley would then get his second from a free kick from the edge of the box soon after. Vale were cruising at this point but a goal from Kingston for Cretty would open the game up. The second half would see Vale dominate from start to finish. John Miley tested the goalkeeper with a free kick and the rebound fell to Lee Conran who finished well. Willie Kavanagh then rounded the keeper after a Miley assist. Lee Conran got this second when Padraig Hynes played the pass of the day to slip Conran in who slotted past the keeper. Miley then got his hat trick to complete the scoring when he fired home another free kick.
