Bagenalstown moved up to fourth with a convincing win over their nearest challengers.

Town started slightly better with the aid of the wind on their backs and went two goals up inside 15 minutes via Jake O’Hara. Bagenalstown pushed hard but couldn’t increase the lead before half time.

After the break, Town continued to dominate and got a deserved third with fifteen minutes left through Danny Darcy. Hacketstown got a consolation with ten minutes to go.

Best for Town were Nathan Holden, Pa Deane and Danny Darcy.

Hawkins Lane played host to this clash between the league leaders and the in form 4th placed Hacketstown. On 20 minutes, Hacketstown played a long ball up field and Ruairi Tomkins got on the end of it to give them the lead despite a last-ditch effort to keep it out by Sam Sheridan. Parkville's response was immediate and almost straight away Parkville won a corner which TJ Kavanagh floated in expertly where Paddy Hickey was on hand to power home the equaliser. Parkville continued to create chances through Joe Morris on the left and were always a danger from set plays with Cian Madden going close from another corner.

The second half saw Hacketstown play with a wind that was only getting stronger as the game went on. The move of the game came on the hour when Lee Kavanagh made a marauding run down the right and crossed for Niall Byrne who took the ball down on his chest to set up TJ Kavanagh who let fly with a left footed shot which left the keeper no chance to put Parkville 2-1 up. Hacketstown continued to threaten with the aid of the strong wind and went close on a number of occasions including hitting the post from a looping corner. Parkville continued to make the runs and Niall Byrne looked to have given Parkville breathing space when he drove home with 10 mins to go but saw the strike ruled out for offside. Niall Humphries went close for Hacketstown, but he ended up hitting the post from a corner. The game was on a knife edge and when TJ Kavanagh put Paddy Byrne through to score, but he saw his effort ruled out. Parkville held firm for a hard-fought victory.

A hard-fought win for Parkville with Cian Madden, Paddy Hickey and TJ Kavanagh standing out for the home team.
