Burrin Celtic v Parkville United
Youths league 26/10 14:30
Burrin Celtic 4 - 1 Parkville United

Burrin Celtic AFC 4 - 1 Parkville United AFC.

It was a very even start to this game, with both sides nullifying their respective attacks and there were no clear-cut chances at all. As half-time approached, Burrin’s Dan Smyth latched on to a ball close in and tapped home for 1-0, but their lead only lasted two minutes, as Parkville’s Myles Hutton picked up a ball on the edge of the box and unleashed an unstoppable shot, that flew into the net to equalise at 1-1. Just before the interval, Burrin re-took the lead, when Dan Smyth was fouled in the box and he ‘dusted himself down’ and scored the penalty with consummate ease to make it 2-1 and that was the half-time score.

Burrin had a great start to the second-half, when within five minutes, they increased their lead, when Dara O’Donoghue raced on to a through ball and coolly finished to make the score 3-1. Soon after, Parkville were reduced to ten men, as they lost a man to a ‘red card’ with twenty five minutes to go and they were going to have ‘a mountain to climb’ to get anything out of this game. Parkville did step up their efforts and they did create some good scoring chances, but they were all spurned, as it wasn’t meant to be and Burrin completed the scoring on eighty eight minutes, as a lovely cross from Diego Dunne, was turned in by Adam Nolan to make it 4-1 and that’s how it ended. It was a great team performance from the Burrin boys, whilst standing out for Parkville were Dylan Gorman-Comerford, Dylan Sheridan, Cillian Fagan and Paddy Reilly.

A goal two minutes from time saw United claim the points in Borris on Sunday.

In an even first half there were chances at both ends, Phil Cresswell denied a goal for Celtic by a last-ditch tackle and Jack Foley causing all sorts of problems for the Parkville rear guard

The second half saw Celtic apply a little more pressure and they almost had the lead on 65 minutes when a Thomas Doyle free kick clipped the wrong side of the post and went wide. Jason Cogley then saw the Parkville keeper make an excellent save before United broke down field with two minutes left to score and break Celtic hearts.

Best for Celtic included Mark Moloney, Jamie Doyle and MJ Doran.
