Newpark FC 1

Parkville United 2

Parkville travelled to Kilkenny on Sunday in a bid to keep Crettyard honest who still need that one point to claim the league title.

Despite the conditions it didn’t take Parkville long to achieve their objective when they scored inside five minutes. Newpark did not let this get them down as they pushed back at Parkville getting some good chances.

The second half was much very much the same with Newpark pressing for an equaliser. Newpark pushed forward committing players but it was Parkville who got a second when they caught Newpark on the break. Newpark finally got the goal they well deserved through Kiara Komar, but it was too late to impact on the score line.

Best for Newpark on the day were Rachael Wall, Tina Wright and Irene Guilfoyle

St Joseph's FC 2 - 7 Parkville United

St Joseph’s AFC 2

Parkville United 7

This game was played in terrible conditions that made it difficult to play good football – it was all more of a slog, although both sides served up an entertaining first-half.

Joey’s took an early 1-0 lead, through Pauric Kenny which they held until thirty-five minutes, when Parkville levelled for 1-1 and shortly afterwards, they scored again to make it 1-2. Joey’s fought back and were soon on level terms, when Kian Reddy set up Daniel Donegan who calmly scored for 2-2 and that was the score at the interval.

Two quick goals at the start of the second-half, saw Parkville take full control of the game and these goals ‘knocked the belief’ out of Joey’s, as Parkville took absolute control and scored three more goals, before the end to run out 2-7 winners.

It was a great team performance from Parkville, whilst best for Joey’s were Jordan O’Brien, Eoin Tynan and Craig Doyle.

Killeshin FC 1 - 0 Parkville United

Killeshin FC 1

Parkville United 0

A solitary goal from Shane Coakley proved decisive in this tie as Parkville were left to rue their accuracy in front of goal.

Killeshin started fast but failed to get a sight of goal in the early exchanges. United’s Chris Sutton and Paul Fitzgerald both went close, Sutton firing inches wide and Fitzgerald's effort well saved by debutant Nick Davis in goal. The games decisive moment arrived ten minutes before the break. Coakley was fouled some 25 yards from goal and the striker picked himself up and then picked his spot in the top corner to fire Killeshin ahead. Barry Ryan should have doubled the lead but after rounding the keeper he hit his shot off the post.

Parkville drove forward in numbers in the second half but despite forcing a series of corners and creating some good chances. Mark Morrissey, Paul Fitzgerald or Chris Sutton could not convert and with time running out it was Killeshin’s Arnie Mahon that came closest to scoring as his shot rebounded off the crossbar and away to safety.

Killeshin weathered the late Parkville rally thanks to the excellent Davis in goal, Enda O’Rourke, David Aston and John Flemming. United’s best included Emmet Phelan, Shane Smith and Paul Fitzgerald.

Ballymurphy Celtic v Parkville United

Ballymurphy Celtic 1 - 2 Parkville United

Ballymurphy Celtic 1

Parkville United 2

Ballymurphy hosted Parkville on Sunday afternoon on what would prove to be a difficult day for football with a strong wind being the dominant factor throughout. Parkville got off to a good start when the prolific Rachael Whelan scored from close range to go 1 up on 18 mins. This sprung Ballymurphy into life and on 27 mins they deservedly levelled when keeper Tina Kavanaghs long clearance cleared the Park defence and the pacey Katie Drennan ran onto it and lobbed the advancing keeper for an excellent finish. On the stroke of halftime, a mix up in the Bally defence allowed the ball to fall to the feet of Rachael Whelan at the edge of the area and she fired home her second of the game. Ballymurphy despite playing into the wind in the second half created the better of the chances but would rue some wasteful finishing as Parkville held out to keep their title dream alive. Rachael Whelan and Emma Kavanagh impressed for the winners while Kate Drennan, Ann Murphy and Laura Murphy tried hard for Ballymurphy
