St Patricks Boys v New Oak Boys
Premier Division 13/10 11:00
St Patricks Boys 0 - 6 New Oak Boys

St. Patrick’s Boys 0

New Oak Boys 6

The defending champions had no such issues to worry about as they cruised to victory over a new look St. Pat’s, expanding their unbeaten streak in the league to 20.

The score line doesn’t necessarily reflect the game as Pat’s played well in patches but failed to convert their chances. Jordan Harmon’s free kick put the visitors ahead from a free outside the box. Andy Wall broke from a Lee Murphy ball four minutes later to easily beat Danny Moran in goal and leave New Oak two up. The home side couldn't break down the strong back line from New Oak and soon found themselves three goals behind going into the break.

Wall’s effort was hit perfectly to find Keighley who hit from outside the box at a wide angle to find the back of the net. Pat’s started best after the break but were wasteful and it took New Oak six minutes after the break to make it four as Harmon fed Wall through on goal after Pat’s gave away possession. Dean Kelly made it five as he broke into the box, picked up a ball from Daryl Coleman and slotted home after some defensive errors from the hosts. Pat’s kept fighting but with five minutes to go, Brian Mullen added a sixth.

Crettyard United v St Patricks Boys
Premier Division 22/09 11:00
Crettyard United 2 - 1 St Patricks Boys

Crettyard United 2

St Patrick's Boys 1

Crettyard got their Premier Division campaign up and running at the second attempt but not without a few scares as a brace from Lee Salter saw them overcome the concession of an early goal to eventually win.

The hosts started well but it was Pat's that struck first, Leven Da Silva’s low drive from the edge of the box finding the net to give the visitors a surprise lead. United upped their game and went close through Aaron Morris and Mikey Byrne before Salter had them level seven minutes before the break, the United forward driving at the Boys defence before firing past Danny Moran to make it 1-1.

The experience of Crettyard gave them the edge in the second half and Salter was causing all sorts of problems for St Pat’s. He had an effort well saved by Moran on the hour before netting the winner ten minutes later with the deftest of flicks from Seamus Dowling’s cross. St Pat’s made a number of changes as they sought an equaliser but rarely threatened in the closing stages as Crettyard eased to the points that they hope will belatedly kick start a title challenge.

Best for United were Seamus Dowling, Mikey Byrne and Lee Salter while impressing for St Pat’s were Brian Maguire, Chris Gaul and Danny Moran.

Round Tower Rovers v St Patricks Boys
Shield 08/09 11:00
Round Tower Rovers 1 - 3 St Patricks Boys

St. Patrick’s Boys 3

Round Tower Rovers 1

Last season’s beaten finalists, Pat’s started the season with a win against Round Tower Rovers of Timahoe, playing their first Junior game in several years.

They fielded a mixture of first and second team players. Pat’s started strongly and were a goal up on 20 minutes, courtesy of Niall Murphy finishing from a good team move. Two more goals before half time by Dinny Farrell and Pauric Quinlan saw Pat's lead at half time.

The second half saw Rovers get a nice goal with a shot from Colum Dunne on the edge of the box. Pat’s freshened the team with subs coming on to see out the rest of the game. The back line for Rovers was commanding and kept the Pat’s forwards at bay for the rest of the half.

However, it is Pat’s who move to the next round with a solid team performance.
