An entertaining game with both teams playing attacking football. Fiacc’s stayed battling and 10 minutes before half time were rewarded when Caoimhe Fitzpatrick score a freekick and shortly after Aoibhinn Kelly Equalised. The second half was more of the same with both teams attacking, but it was Vale who got in front again when Phil Murphy broke down the line and shot from a tight angle to find the net. Fiacc’s showed plenty of character and Equalised again with 10 minutes remaining through Sinead Hayden. Vale Pushed for the winner and Eibhe Lawlor broke through the Fiacc’s defence and coolly slotted him to grab a last-minute winner. Best for Fiacc’s on the day were Zara Kerfah, Sinead Hayden and Maggie Doogue while Nicola Nolan, Tara Ryan and Jacinta Kearney performed well for the winners

St Fiacc's FC 2 - 1 Dolmen Celtic

St Fiacc’s 2

Dolmen Celtic 1

Matthew Power's second half winner saw St Fiacc’s rise to fourth in the table as the divisions new boys Celtic remain winless after 7 matches. Dolmen had the better of the opening quarter but some excellent goal keeping from Patrick Scully kept them at bay. As Fiacc’s settled they began to create chances of their own as both Brian O'Rourke and Ross Hennessey went close. The hosts were now pinning Celtic back and as the half drew to a close the deadlock was broken. Roy Culleton fired a cross into the penalty area and caused panic in the Celtic rear-guard, Michael Loughman keeping his cool to calmly lob the keeper for 1-0. Dolmen responded well on the restart and after a period of pressure scored just before the hour to make it 1-1. Fiacc’s upped their game again and with the introduction of fresh legs the momentum swung back their way. Hennessey and Aaron Delaney both forced saves from the keeper before Power rose highest at the back post to head home from a corner and win the game for the Saints and reward the efforts of James Hickey, Mark McLaughlin and Stephen Hurley.
