Parkville United4
St. Fiacc’s FC

It was St. Fiacc’s who started the brighter as they took advantage of an error at the back to go 1-0 up. Aoife Nolan made no mistake when she was gifted the chance in front of goal. It was only then Parkville came to life and started to show their class taking control of the game. They got a lot of joy down the left-hand side with great link up play between Mel Daniels, Rachel Whelan, and Bridget Kenny, with the St. Fiacc’s keeper making some good saves to keep them in it. It was Mel Daniels who first found the back of the net after she showed some composure when she was one on one with the keeper. Rachel Whelan was next to get off the mark following good link up play. The teams went in at half time at 2-1 with a lot still to play for.
The second half started as the first half ended with Parkville well in control, although St. Fiacc’s always looked threatening on the break. Mel Daniels caused havoc on the left wing, scoring Parkville’s third. Rachel Whelan then put the match beyond any doubt getting Parkville’s fourth having been frustrated by some good saves by the keeper in the minutes previously.
Best for Parkville were Bridget Kenny, Suzanne Meagher and Mel Daniels while best for St. Fiacc’s were Bríd Behan and Mary Delaney.

Hanover Harps 4

League leaders Harps had a comfortable win over The Saints on Sunday morning.

Hanover applied all the early pressure but with Fiacc’s defending deep and in numbers they struggled to get clear sights on goal. The opening goal when it came had a big slice of luck involved, The Saints failed to deal with a Mark Davis free kick and amid the ensuing scramble the ball struck the heal of a Saints defender and found its way to the net on 25 minutes. With the Saints defensive wall breached the second goal arrived five minutes later, Mark Davis weaved a little piece of magic before setting up Niall Swan to score at the back post.

The second half was much the same as Fiacc’s struggled to get into the game and Simon O’Shea put Graham Delaney through on goal to make it 3-0 on the hour. A couple of goal line clearances prevented Delaney and Niall Quinlan from adding to the tally while Fiacc’s keeper Jamie Parr also pulled off a couple of smart saves but the relentless pressure eventually told as Delaney teed up Quinlan to notch number four with five minutes left.

Best for Harps were Sean Kavanagh, Phil Neenan and Ray Walker. Fiacc’s best included Leon Doran, Jamie Parr, Bobby Doyle and James Hickey.
