Killeshin FC v Mill Celtic
13/10 11:30
Killeshin FC 1 - 8 Mill Celtic

Killeshin FC 1

Mill Celtic 8

Mill Celtic showed their credentials to be league champions with back to back dominant performances.

They were quick out of the blocks in Killeshin on Sunday and went ahead on seven minutes when Megan Grufferty scored. The Killeshin rear-guard were under pressure throughout but were well marshalled by the experienced Mary Clare Connolly. On the half hour mark Mill put away three opportunities in ten minutes through Triona Duggan, Mag Nolan and Nicole Heaney. Killeshin never gave up and were rewarded just before the break from Suzanne Meagher’s clinical finish.

Killeshin started to play on the front foot now and created some good chances but had no joy in front of goal and were undone on 65 minutes on the counterattack when Grufferty netted her second. With Killeshin starting to tire Mill took advantage and added three more with Nolan getting her second and Duggan completing her hat trick.

Best for Mill were Mag Nolan, Megan Grufferty and Rachael Fennin while Alannah Waters, Mary Clare Connolly, Suzanne and Marie Meagher tried hard for Killeshin

Killeshin FC v Newpark AFC
06/10 14:00
Killeshin FC 1 - 3 Newpark AFC

Killeshin FC 1

Newpark FC 3

Newpark started strong straight away with 15-year-old Kellie Ann Moran scoring after just two minutes from a great run down the wing from Sinead McGrane. This you would think should have set the tone for the game but it didn’t. Newpark got very sloppy with their game and let Killeshin back into it. Killeshin would take full advantage and equalised just before the break with an excellent finish from Niamh Smith. Suzanne Meagher thought she restored the Newpark advantage but her shot cannoned back off the post.

The game was almost settled ten minutes after the break with two quick fire goals from Newpark, the first when Tracey Bourke’s cross field pass found Jane Meagher who lobbed the advancing Killeshin keeper and Moran would net her second of the game following a flowing passing move involving herself and Sinead McGrane. That’s how things would stay with Newpark deserving winners.

Kellie Ann Moran, Tracey Bourke and Sinead McGrane impressed for Newpark while Niamh Smith and Lucy Gaffney did well for Killeshin.

Killeshin FC v St Joseph's FC
Youths league 28/09 14:30
Killeshin FC 2 - 0 St Joseph's FC

Killeshin AFC 2

St Joseph’s 0

Killeshin began their campaign with a good win over St Joseph’s, in this entertaining game.

After a goalless first-half, Dylan Regan was to prove the difference between the two sides, with two well-taken second-half goals.

The first goal, came from a long Craig Doyle clearance, out of defence, which was flicked on by Jack Brennan and Dylan Regan latched on to the ball and he made no mistake from directly in front of goal, to give Killeshin a 1-0 lead.

The second goal was a wonderful, individual effort by Dylan Regan who beat two Joey’s defenders and then coolly slotted the ball into the bottom corner, to score a brace and ‘kill off’ the game at 2-0.

Best for Killeshin were Hubert Mazur, Lee Nolan, Jack Denn and Dylan Reglan, whilst it was a hard-working team performance by Joey’s.

Killeshin FC v Burrin Celtic
Youths league 12/10 14:30
Killeshin FC 1 - 1 Burrin Celtic
Killeshin AFC1
Burrin Celtic

Killeshin didn’t let this set-back faze them and they caused problems for Burrin as Dylan Regan was very unlucky when his snapshot volley from an acute angle from outside the box went just inches wide. Later in the half a Killeshin free-kick wasn’t dealt with very well by the Burrin defence and the ball fell to Brendan McDonald on the edge of the six-yard box but his shot went over the crossbar letting Burrin off the hook. Despite all the pressure from ten man Killeshin it was Burrin who broke the deadlock very much against the run of play just before the interval when there was a mix-up in the Killeshin defence and the Burrin striker slotted home from the edge of penalty box and Burrin went into half-time holding that slender 0-1 lead.
It was a more determined Killeshin team that came out in the second half and within five minutes of the re-start they were awarded a penalty as Callum Rhodes was taken down in the box and up stepped Dylan Regan to despatch the ball home and put Killeshin on level terms at 1-1. Throughout Killeshin never looked like a team that had played the majority of the game with only ten men and they went on to dominate most of the second half. Killeshin’s Hubert Mazur and Mikey Dempsey were in great form and causing plenty of problems for the Burrin defence with their pace fine passing and good over-lapping runs and putting in plenty of good crosses meaning that the Burrin defence were kept on their toes in trying to rebuff the onslaught. Late in the game Killeshin’s Kaelum Hand nearly gave them all three points as his free kick just went wide of the Burrin post and it ended 1-1 which was a fair reflection of the game.
Best for Killeshin were Lee Nolan and Daniel Hegarty whilst it was a good team performance from Burrin.

Ballymurphy Celtic v Killeshin FC
Shield 08/09 11:00
Ballymurphy Celtic 6 - 3 Killeshin FC

Ballymurphy Celtic 6

Killeshin FC 3

There were goals aplenty in Ballymurphy on Sunday as the hosts eventually overcame a determined Killeshin in the last 25 minutes.

Killeshin got off to the perfect start, Kaelum Hande and Patrick Brannigan combining to set up James Brennan for the opener on ten minutes. Moments later the sides were level as Thomas Doyle crossed for Mikey Whelan to head home. Celtic went 2-1 ahead on the half hour as Jack Foley set up Whelan for his second. Killeshin’s reply was a fine goal from Declan Bolton to make it 2-2 before Celtic regained the lead just on the stroke of half time when Jason Cogley’s curling effort nestled into the top corner.

The pace never let up in the second half and within ten minutes Killeshin were level again, Michael O’Rourke was felled in the 18-yard box and Liam Seery made no mistake with the spot kick to make it 3-3. It was then that Celtic turned up the heat and three unanswered goals in the last quarter saw them through. Thomas Doyle headed home from a Tom O’Neil corner to put Celtic back in front and then Mikey Whelan played a neat pass into Kevin Foley who netted number five. These two combined again five minutes from time to make it 6-3, Foley again applying the finishing touch to Whelan’s pass to close out the game.

Mikey Whelan, Thomas Doyle and Tom O'Neill impressed for the winners while Killeshin had solid showings from Declan Bolton, Kaelum Hande and Brendan McDonald.
