Killeshin progressed into the next round of the KCLR Shield with a convincing win over Celtic Stars. The visitors started well and were in front early on through a Paul Nolan strike on 15 minutes. The hosts were back in the game on the half hour when Eoin Lowry converted a free kick on the edge of the box for 1-1. This goal seemed to spark new life into Killeshin and when James Doogue broke down the right wing his perfect cross was met at the back post by the in running Declan Bolton to make it 2-1 to Killeshin at half time. The second half saw Killeshin apply the early pressure and they when 3-1 ahead when a long ball from James Doogue deceived the stars keeper and ended up in the net. Stars continued to battle to couldn't prise open the Killeshin defence and the hosts were assured of their passage to the quarter finals when Declan Bolton pounced on a loose ball to make it 4-1 late on and reward the efforts of Vinny Dowling, Shane Coakley and Kevin Ryan. Best for Stars were Peter Ryan, Adam Hughes and Paul Nolan.

Killeshin picked up their first win of the season at The Saints on Sunday morning. With very few chances being created in the first half it was Killeshin that went closest when a great cross from Liam Dunne was met at the back post by Mickey McCartney, but his effort rebounded to safety off the upright. Then just before halftime a great 3 man move between Evan Lowry, David Aston and Shane Coakley saw Coakley's effort just touched over the crossbar as the teams went into the break at 0-0. The Saints struck first 10 minutes into the second half when Barry Murphy was fouled in the area and Anto Fitzpatrick converted the penalty for the lead. Shortly afterwards Killeshin had a penalty of their own, Shane Coakley converting for 1-1. Killeshin were now piling on all the pressure and when Fiacc’s failed to deal with a cross from Jake Nolan it was Eoin Lowry who reacted the quickest and blasted home the loose ball to put the visitors ahead. Fiacc’s were battling to the end but the destination of the points was sorted when Lawlor fired home from 18 yards to make it 3-1 and secure a first win for the visitors. Best for Killeshin on the day were Anto Byrne, Ricardo Tavolieri, Evan Lowry and Kevin Ryan. Saints best were PJ Connolly, Shane O'Neill and Anto Fitzpatrick.

Killeshin also bowed out of the cup in Birr on Sunday.

The visitors started well and created early chances for Eoin Lowry and Shane Coakley. Birr scored midway through the half against the run of play as Killeshin were punished for their missed chances. Killeshin responded through a David Aston effort which came back off the crossbar just before half time.

The second half saw Killeshin throw everything into attack but neither Lowry or Michael Doran could take the chances that came their way and a late penalty for the hosts finished the game off.

Best for Killeshin included Liam Dunne, Ian Brennan, Michael Doran and Eoin Lowry.

Killeshin came up just short as they went out on penalties in Baldoyle on Sunday morning.

Killeshin took the lead on two minutes when Shane Coakley rifled home from an acute angle. On the front foot, Killeshin created great chances and spurned the opportunity to go further ahead when Coakley and Eoin Lowry both had efforts saved. Baldoyle upped their game, equalised on 18 minutes and took the lead with a near post header on 25 minutes. Five minutes before the break Killeshin had a mountain to climb when the home team got their third.

Killeshin upped their game in the second half and pulled one back on 55 minutes when Yona Samuel rounded the keeper and shortly after Ian Brennan put Shane Coakley through to level matters. The drama wasn’t over as Joe Travers saved a late penalty to bring the teams to extra time. Baldoyle hit the front again three minutes from the end but again Killeshin responded with Eoin Lowry forcing home from a corner to take the game to penalties. With the teams still, level after five penalties each it took sudden death spot kicks before Killeshin eventually bowed out.

Best for Killeshin were Brian Mullen, Anto Byrne, Eoin Lowry and James Doogue.
