New Oak Boys v Vale Wanderers
Youths league 28/09 14:30
New Oak Boys 0 - 0 Vale Wanderers

Vale Wanderers 0

New Oak Boys 0

The game started at a slow pace and gradually went New Oak’s way, as Vale just couldn’t their foot on the ball.

Very few chances were created and both sides were happy to see the end of what was a very scrappy first half.

The second- half started at a much faster pace, with both sides trying to create chances.

Vale’s first opportunity fell to Tommy Cummins, but he struck his shot straight at the New Oak keeper and shortly after, Shane Cowman hit his shot into the ground, after some good play down New Oak’s right flank. New oak were playing a counter-attacking game which caught out Vale on a couple of occasions, but overall there was a distinct lack of a good finish. Vale’s Tommy Cummins had a good chance, near the end, but he struck his shot across the goal, as the opportunity went abegging and finally, New Oak won a free kick on the edge of Vale’s box, but it was blazed over the bar. The game ended in a 0-0 draw which was a fair result in the end.

Best for Vale were Mark Fitzgerald Tom Gardiner and Cormac O’Hara, whilst it was a good team performance by New Oak.

New Oak started brightly and found themselves 0-1 up early on thanks to a wonderful header from Boni Milinganyo and they were dominating the play but Joey’s were looking dangerous, on the break and could have been level at the interval but they spurned the few chances they created and it was 0-1 at the break.

Early in the second half a tremendous strike from David Ujadugle from all of twenty-five yards put New Oak 0-2 up and shortly afterwards man of the match Lorcan Canavan made a superb solo run before finishing from outside the box to make it 0-3 and New Oak were cruising. New Oak’s last goal came from good link-up play between David Ujadugle and Lwazi Ndolvu and he finished well to give New Oak a comprehensive 0-4 victory.

It was a good overall team performance from Joey’s but they were overwhelmed by a terrific team performance by New Oak for whom Lorcan Canavan was absolutely outstanding.

St Patricks Boys 0 - 6 New Oak Boys

St. Patrick’s Boys 0

New Oak Boys 6

The defending champions had no such issues to worry about as they cruised to victory over a new look St. Pat’s, expanding their unbeaten streak in the league to 20.

The score line doesn’t necessarily reflect the game as Pat’s played well in patches but failed to convert their chances. Jordan Harmon’s free kick put the visitors ahead from a free outside the box. Andy Wall broke from a Lee Murphy ball four minutes later to easily beat Danny Moran in goal and leave New Oak two up. The home side couldn't break down the strong back line from New Oak and soon found themselves three goals behind going into the break.

Wall’s effort was hit perfectly to find Keighley who hit from outside the box at a wide angle to find the back of the net. Pat’s started best after the break but were wasteful and it took New Oak six minutes after the break to make it four as Harmon fed Wall through on goal after Pat’s gave away possession. Dean Kelly made it five as he broke into the box, picked up a ball from Daryl Coleman and slotted home after some defensive errors from the hosts. Pat’s kept fighting but with five minutes to go, Brian Mullen added a sixth.

Hanover Harps v New Oak Boys
New Oak take the points on opening day with a late goal
Youths league 21/09 14:30
Hanover Harps 3 - 4 New Oak Boys

Hanover looked the better side to start with pouncing on an early defensive mistake. New Oak recovered well to level the game through Brandon Doyle. This lead was short lived however when New Oak failed to play to the whistle and allowed Hanover another easy goal. Brandon Doyle’s corner saw a scramble at the back post and New Oak we’re back level.

Second half saw a different Hanover who were constantly pushing for the lead and it came on the hour mark. New Oak tried to walk it out of the backline and it backfired gifting Hanover their third goal. New Oak drove hard and Captain Stephen Lacey roused his team to keep pushing hard. Cian Kelly’s header from a corner saw the sides level for a fourth time in the game before Jack Lawlor smashed home the winner after a new Oak corner.

Best for New Oak were Stephen Lacey, Jack Lawlor, Boni Miliganyo and Brandon Doyle
