Four goals in 17 second half minutes saw New Oak comfortably overcome Stars and rise to second place in the league, seven points behind Hanover but with two games less played.

The Boys dominated possession from the start but couldn’t make it show on the scoreboard. Stars almost made them pay with two quick breaks but stand in keeper, Brian Quigley produced two great saves from Barry Foley and Peter Ryan to keep the game scoreless. Ten minutes before the break New Oak hit the front, an excellent free kick from James McGrath fining the top corner for a 1-0 half time lead. Within two minutes of the restart it was 2-0, Daryl Coleman setting up Adam Flynn to score. Three minutes later Flynn turned provider for Will Hayes to make it 3-0. Stars conceded another free kick on the edge of their box just before the hour and this time Ciaran Larkin dispatched the dead ball to the net before Hayes powered home his second and New Oak's fifth on 64 minutes. With the damaged done the hosts eased up but still added a sixth late on when Coleman again set up Flynn to net.

Best for New Oak were the evergreen Brian Quigley, Ciaran Larkin and Dylan Salter. While for a Stars team fast running out of games in their bid to stay in the Premier Division only Jason Cowman, Barry Foley and Peter Ryan looked up for the battle.
