Ballymurphy Celtic v Hanover Harps

Ballymurphy Celtic 2 - 8 Hanover Harps

Ballymurphy Celtic 2

Hanover Harps 8

Hanover continued their fine start to the season by beating at times a stubborn Ballymurphy.

It took until exactly 20 minutes to break the deadlock when Essmay Murphy rounded the keeper and scored from the tightest of angles. The next 15 minutes was a finishing masterclass from Rachael Whelan as she bagged a hat trick the second being the goal of the game following a fine passing move involving Ciara Nolan, Leanne Tumelty and Nicole Dowling. Stephanie Kehoe’s delivery from wide areas were excellent all day and Nicole Dowling profited when she headed home a corner and Kehoe herself would add the sixth scoring direct from a corner.

Ballymurphy to their credit kept fighting and were rewarded on 55 minutes when Ann Murphy slotted home a penalty after Emma O’Regan thought she was playing a different sport. Ten minutes later Ann Murphy got her second following a mix up in the Hanover defence. Hanover were soon back on top when Essmay Murphy got her second and with minutes remaining Leanne Tumelty was tripped in the box giving Murphy the opportunity to get her hat trick and she made no mistake.

Best for Hanover were Emma O Regan, Nicole Dowling, Clodagh Maguire and Ciara Nolan while Ann Murphy and Aoife Barcoe tried hard for Ballymurphy.

Newpark AFC v Hanover Harps
29/09 14:00
Newpark AFC 1 - 3 Hanover Harps

Newpark FC 1

Hanover Harps 3

Today’s game was always going to be tough for both teams. With Newpark rebuilding and Hanover reforming both teams set up for a good game and they didn't disappoint.

Newpark could have been in front inside the first minute when Denise Doyle found herself thru on goal but fired just over. The Hanover response was immediate when Essmay Murphy found herself thru on goal but smacked the upright. On 20 minutes she would make amends when Hanover were awarded a penalty for a handball and slotted home from 12 yards.

The contest was end to end and even more so on 65 minutes when Newpark levelled from Tracey Bourke’s 25 yard piledriver. Hanover made a couple of positional changes and it paid dividends when on 73 minutes a Ciara Nolan pass found Rachael Whelan free at the edge of the box and she coolly slotted home from a tight angle. It was soon to be three when Lauren McGrath volleyed home from 25 yards. Murphy was unlucky not to get her second when her free kick struck the post and Kellie Nolan was denied by some brave goalkeeping at the death.

Best for Newpark were Irene Guilfoyle, Tracey Bourke and Annie Dunne while impressive for the winners were Leanne Tumelty, Kellie Nolan, Ciara Nolan and the impressive Marie Hynes.

Crettyard United v Hanover Harps
Youths league 28/09 14:30
Crettyard United 1 - 1 Hanover Harps

Crettyard United 1

Hanover Harps 1

Hanover started on the front foot and as early as the second minute, a penetrating Crossfield pass by Shane Murphy found Arnus Karalius inside the box and he controlled the ball and went around the Crettyard keeper to open the scoring at 0-1.

Hanover continued to ‘boss’ the opening exchanges and Dillon Darcy went very close on nine minutes. Crettyard created their first opportunity on nine minutes from a set-piece – but it came to nothing. Hanover’s Shane Murphy saw his fine effort from outside the box, but it was tipped around the post by the Crettyard keeper and Arnus Umbartas went close on a couple of occasions, but they went wide. Crettyard had a spell of possession in the latter stages of the first half, but the Hanover defence defended robustly and gave little away. Just before half-time Crettyard won a free kick, but Matthew McCutcheon tipped it out for a corner, which was subsequently cleared and it was 0-1 at half-time.

Crettyard took the game to Hanover, in the early stages of the second-half, but Hanover continued to defend stoutly, however, on fifty five minutes, a poor clearance fell to a Crettyard striker and he rifled the ball into the top corner of the net, to level the scores at 1-1. Hanover responded by taking the game to Crettyard and Arnus Umbartas, Dillon Darcy and Shane Murphy all had efforts saved as they besieged Crettyard’s goal. Then Crettyard took over and dominated for the next ten minutes and they had two half-chances, that were denied by some great defending by Robert Norton and Ben A Smith. Hanover forced a corner, near the end, but Kian Lawlor’s headed chance was saved. The final chance fell to Crettyard but Matthew McCutcheon pulled off a superb save to keep the scores level at 1-1, which was a fair result for this very entertaining match.

Standing out for Hanover were Matthew McCutcheon, Shane Murphy, Ben A Smith and Kian Lawlor, whilst it was an all-round team performance by Crettyard.

Hanover Harps v New Oak Boys
New Oak take the points on opening day with a late goal
Youths league 21/09 14:30
Hanover Harps 3 - 4 New Oak Boys

Hanover looked the better side to start with pouncing on an early defensive mistake. New Oak recovered well to level the game through Brandon Doyle. This lead was short lived however when New Oak failed to play to the whistle and allowed Hanover another easy goal. Brandon Doyle’s corner saw a scramble at the back post and New Oak we’re back level.

Second half saw a different Hanover who were constantly pushing for the lead and it came on the hour mark. New Oak tried to walk it out of the backline and it backfired gifting Hanover their third goal. New Oak drove hard and Captain Stephen Lacey roused his team to keep pushing hard. Cian Kelly’s header from a corner saw the sides level for a fourth time in the game before Jack Lawlor smashed home the winner after a new Oak corner.

Best for New Oak were Stephen Lacey, Jack Lawlor, Boni Miliganyo and Brandon Doyle

Hanover Harps v Dolmen Celtic
Shield 08/09 11:00
Hanover Harps 5 - 1 Dolmen Celtic

Hanover Harps 5

Dolmen Celtic 1

Harps eased into the second round of the KCLR Shield after this all Premier Division tie.

Harps started the better of the sides and Dylan Walsh almost opened the scoring in the first minute, only a fine save keeping his effort out. Efforts from distance followed from Simon O’Shea and Walsh before Harps eventually opened the scoring midway through the half. Dylan Walsh swung in a corner and Ray Walker got his head on it to put Hanover one up. Celtic’s response was a Danny Thompson shot which was smartly saved by Craig Walker ten minutes before the break.

If the first half was an even affair the second was completely one sided as Harps upped a gear and reaped the rewards. On 55 minutes they netted their second, Ray Walker again using his head to make it 2-0. Ten minutes later the third arrived, Dylan Walsh stealing the ball from a defender 25 yards from goal before curling a beauty into the top corner. Hanover kept pushing and the goals kept coming, Simon O’Shea also finding the top corner from 20 yards with a sweet volley made it 4-0 before quick thinking from Johnny Waters set O’Shea free to slot his second and Harps fifth with two minutes left. Dolmen did find a goal from a corner on 90 minutes but was too little too late for the visitors.

Best for Hanover included Craig Walker, Phil Neenan, Dillon Murphy and Niall Kenny
