Simon O’Shea and Ben Dorgan both netted a brace as Hanover eased passed St Fiacc’s.

Harps got off to the perfect start, netting twice inside the first ten minutes. Matheus Voiola squared for Dorgan to open the scoring and O’Shea pounced to double the lead shortly afterwards. It got worse for The Saints on the half hour when Sean Kavanagh scored from a Mark Davis corner. St Fiacc’s almost pulled a goal back when Roy Culleton and James Hickey combined to set up Mark McLoughlin, but his effort clipped the crossbar and went over.

The second half saw Hanover push on again and Dorgan netted his second of the game to make it 4-0. O’Shea followed suit with his second of the game before Fiacc’s responded with a goal from McLoughlin after an excellent pass from substitute Shane Condron. Hanover’s reply was almost instant as Alan Shaw restored their five-goal advance to finish off the scoring.

Best for Hanover were Stephen Chalton, Dylan Walsh and Ben Dorgan. Fiacc’s best included Davy Hurley, Wayne Humphries and James Hickey.

Hanover win 5-3 on pens

Hanover held their nerve in the penalty shoot out to advance in the Leinster Junior Cup after an entertaining but goalless affair on Sunday. The blustery conditions made life difficult for both sides, but Harps came closing to scoring in the first half when Mark Davis cracked a 25-yard effort off the crossbar. The visitors had wind advantage in the second half and almost broke the deadlock on the hour when Conor Young let fly from distance but Anto McGrath got a hand on the ball to help it onto the crossbar and away to safety. Harps had late chances for Mark Davis and Cathal Coughlan before the game went to extra time. The crossbar again came to Hanover's aid as substitute Conor McDonnell smashed a header off it as Harps failed to clear a corner while Kevin Power headed narrowly wide for Hanover in the dying seconds. Hanover converted all 5 spot kicks with Power netting the final penalty to send the hosts through. Best for Hanover included Anto McGrath, Niall Swan and Cathal Coughlan

Substitute Pat Carr struck for the winning goal ten minutes from time to earn Harps the points on Sunday.

Hanover started well but missed early chances for Niall Swan and Jason Murphy, both from corners. As the game hit the half hour mark Harps hit the front, Dillon Murphy cracking an effort from 18 yards in off the underside of the crossbar. Celtic’s response was a Joe Doran effort which Anto McGrath did well to tip around the post for a corner.

The visitors began the second half strong and were level on 55 minutes, Danny Thompson’s free kick finding Doran in space and he calmly picked his spot for 1-1. After that it was a story of Harps creating and missing chances with Dolmen trying to hit on the break. Harps saw Sean Kavanagh head over and Cathal Coughlan’s effort come back off a post before Mark Davis split the Celtic defence for Carr, the striker keeping his composure as he neatly lobbed Jamie Hennessey to put the hosts 2-1 ahead. Dolmen pressed for an equaliser, but Thompson shot wide and Doran shot over, both from distance, as Harps saw out the remaining time to take the points.

Best for Hanover were Mark Davis, Simon O’Shea and Niall Swan. Dolmen’s best included Joe Doran, Danny Thompson and Jamie Hennessey.
