Hanover were quick out of the traps in this encounter and they went ahead on five minutes, when Dylan Delaney broke the Burrin offside trap and coolly slotted home for 1-0.

After some fancy footwork by Joe Doran he made it 2-0 from close range and ten minutes later, Dylan Delaney got his second, from a tight angle to make it 3-0. Just before half-time Keelan Lacey scored with a 30-yard strike into the top corner of the net, for 4-0 and this goal proved to be the goal of the game.

In the second-half Hanover were comfortably well on top and added further goals from Joe Doran, who got his second for 5-0 and from centre back Ben Dorgan added two fine long-range strikes for 7-0 and Keelan Lacey scored a fine brace and completed his hat-trick for a final, comprehensive score of 9-0.

Best for Hanover were Aaron Byrne, Dylan Gately, Adam Nolan and Keelan Lacey whilst Burrin kept battling to the end for which they deserve fulsome praise.

St Fiacc's FC 0 - 4 Hanover Harps

League leaders Harps had a comfortable win over The Saints on Sunday morning.

Hanover applied all the early pressure but with Fiacc’s defending deep and in numbers they struggled to get clear sights on goal. The opening goal when it came had a big slice of luck involved, The Saints failed to deal with a Mark Davis free kick and amid the ensuing scramble the ball struck the heal of a Saints defender and found its way to the net on 25 minutes. With the Saints defensive wall breached the second goal arrived five minutes later, Mark Davis weaved a little piece of magic before setting up Niall Swan to score at the back post.

The second half was much the same as Fiacc’s struggled to get into the game and Simon O’Shea put Graham Delaney through on goal to make it 3-0 on the hour. A couple of goal line clearances prevented Delaney and Niall Quinlan from adding to the tally while Fiacc’s keeper Jamie Parr also pulled off a couple of smart saves but the relentless pressure eventually told as Delaney teed up Quinlan to notch number four with five minutes left.

Best for Harps were Sean Kavanagh, Phil Neenan and Ray Walker. Fiacc’s best included Leon Doran, Jamie Parr, Bobby Doyle and James Hickey.
