Nurney Villa 3- 0 Hanover Harps B
It was three first-half goals that decided this match, which was played in Nurney. It was the home side who opened the scoring. The first goal came in the 2nd minute when Andy O'Brien dispatched the ball into the net from Thomas Murphy's corner. Nurney's lead was then doubled when Pakie Fleming scored after some excellent midfield play. After 33 minutes, the score was 3-0 when Joe Byrne played a lovely cross across the box, leaving Martin Mullins no choice but to tap the ball home. It was an awkward and slow opening half for the Hanover players, and their mistakes were duly punished. Their failure to pick up midfield runners had them three down at half-time.
Knowing this, Hanover made two changes after half-time and began playing better and creating chances to get back into the game. However, the Hanover chances were not capitalised on by Dillon Murphy, Dylan Twohig or Aaron Kinsella, and the score remained the same until the final whistle. As the game got stretched, Nurney were dangerous on the break but never really created much. 3-0, a comfortable home win for Nurney Villa. Best for a valiant Hanover team were Alan Bolger, Eric Dowling, Aaron Kinsella, and Pa Dowling. Best for Nurney were Jamie McCabe, Andy O'Brien, Thomas Murphy and Rian Farrell.
