Burrin Celtic 7 – 0 Nurney Villa
Burrin Celtic continued their great run and maintained the leagues only 100 per cent record with a brilliant team display in Ballon on a wet and windy afternoon. Burrin started off the game on the front foot and it stayed this way for majority of the game. Great play in midfield from Liam Gavin saw him get away from trouble and play in Burrin forwards Jack Kenny and Conor Deacon who combined, with Deacon putting a great ball through for Kenny to finish to put Burrin 1-0 up. Nurney slowly got into the game after this goal, but Frankie Fitzgerald struck from 18 yards out after a clearance from a corner to find the bottom left corner to put Burrin 2-0 up and it stayed like this till half time.
Burrin came out firing in the second half when Dylan O’Reilly capitalized on a defensive mistake to tap the ball in to make it 3-0. Burrin’s fourth goal was a brilliant team goal and a great example of unselfishness when Jack Kenny was through on goal when he beat the Nurney defense and squared the ball to Dylan O’ Reilly who struck the ball into the right hand corner first time to make it 4-0. Burrins midfield of Frankie Fitzgerald, Liam Gavin Sam Collier and Dylan O’Reilly controlled the game excellently and Liam Gavin found himself through on goal gown the left wing to beat the keeper and put the ball in the bottom right to put Burrin 5-0 up. Burrin kept the pressure on and with about 15 minutes left Will Baird got on the scoresheet by pressing down the defenders and the keeper to put Burrin 6-0 up. Jack Kenny added to his goal tally again with 10 minutes left when he was out through on goal by Frankie Fitzgerald, and he finished excellently to end the scoring and leave Burrin 7-0 up. A great team performance from Burrin and everyone played their part in keeping them top of the table. Best for Nurney were Paidraig Kearney and Evan Kearney.
