Vale Wanderers ‘B’ 3

St. Joseph’s FC 5

A young St. Joseph’s side claimed the points against a Vale side missing several players due to a GAA game. Joeys started off best and were rewarded for it when Tom Mitchell passed the ball into an open net. Joeys stated putting the hosts under pressure and Caoimhin Tracey then chipped the Vale ‘keeper from near the middle of the field to double their lead. Vale responded well to pull a goal back shortly before half time when Jordan Doyle popped up at the back post to convert a Conor Byrne free kick. Joey's then started the second half much like the first and scored another goal which resulted from great team play which ended with Ciaran Doyle squaring the ball into the path of Mitchell who got his second of the game. Vale didn’t drop their heads and when energetic forward Dylan Waters picked up the ball just outside the box he produced an unstoppable shot to bring it back to a one goal game. Not long after that Vale levelled when the Joeys keeper parried a shot into the path of Lorcan Galvin and he tapped home. Despite Vale having all the momentum, it was Joey's who found yet another gear and kicked on with fresh legs off the bench making the difference. Daniel Donegan put a brilliant ball into the box which was headed in by Dylan McDermott. A few minutes later Dylan played a brilliant ball into the path of Sam Byrne who

kept his composure in front of goal to round off a good game all around by St Joseph's. Best on a disappointing day for Vale were Dylan Waters, Lorcan Galvin and Geoffrey Doran.
