For Slaney, the first half's best chance fell to Jake Elliot. However, his long-range effort rebounded to safety off the crossbar. In contrast, New Oak had taken chances by this stage and found themselves 0-5 up at half-time by playing some lovely football at times. They raced into an early lead on five minutes from a fine Evan Ingram header. Ben Dorgan then added two goals before Ingram scored again to make it four. Just before half time, Ben Dorgan completed his hattrick to leave New Oak in a comfortable position. The game looked like an even contest; however, the away team proved clinical and creative.
Shortly after the half-time break, some excellent combination plays between Slaney's Sean Costello and Adam Martin found John Martin in space, as he fired home to make the score 1-5. Within five minutes, John Martin turned provider, as he set up Adam Martin for Slaney's second, making it 2-5. This seemed to wake New Oak and Evan Ingram completed his hattrick after some good work from Jesse Clarke. Ben Dorgan then added another for New Oak. However, Slaney's Peter Kehoe was cool and calm when he slotted home a clever pass from Killian Walsh in the last five minutes to make the final score 3-8. Slaney gave it their all, especially Jaden Doyle and Jake Elliot; However, New Oak and especially Stephen Lacey, Lee Kane and Jesse Clarke, played some dominating football and deserved the away win and 3 points.
