A Lee Salter hat trick did most of the damage for the hosts as they easily saw off the challenge of a youthful Celtic. Despite dominating possession, it took half an hour for United to open their account, Salter with the finish for the only goal of the first half, that partly due to some excellent goal keeping by Celtic's Craig Doyle. Two goals within 7 minutes of the restart saw United almost out of sight, Bobby Dowling headed home a Craig Comerford cross on 47 minutes and moments later Salter netted his second and Crettyard third for a 3-0 lead. Salter completed his hat trick just after the hour mark, Jack Brady with the assist. With 15 minutes left it was 5-0, Luke Ramsbottom and Mikey Byrne combining well before setting up Ryan Byrne to score. Impressing for the winners were Mikey Byrne, Craig Comerford, Lee Salter and Ryan Byrne. Celtic's best included Craig Doyle, Myles Hutton, Eamon Lalor and Rory McColl
