Vale Wanderers 9
Mill Celtic 1
Vale ran riot against a badly depleted Mill Celtic in the Superbowl on Sunday.
The home side opened the scoring when Sean Smithers set Willie Kavanagh up to finish from close range. Youth team player Tommy Cummins made it 2-0 after excellent work by Jack Treacy. The Ballitore side pulled a goal back from the penalty spot with Brian Malone doing the honours to leave 2-1 at the break.
The Leighlinbridge side completely dominated the second half with Tommy Cummins completing his hat trick. Kieran Casey got in on the scoring act heading home a Jack Treacy corner. Sean Smithers ran in four goals during the course of the half with the best being the last when he weaved his way through the Celtic defence before calmly slotting up to score his fifth of the say and Vales’ ninth of the day.
Best for the winner were Andrew Townsend, John Miley, Billy Lennon O’Brien and Smithers. It was a disappointing day at the office of Mill Celtic.
