New Oak Boys 0
Baltinglass Town 2
Baltinglass came out on top in this tense affair at the Burrin Road venue on Sunday.
The visitors started well and should have taken the lead on 15 minutes when a cross from Chris Heaslip failed to convert a Dylan Hosey cross. Sean Horan was again wide of the mark on 30 minutes while at the other end Stephen Preston went close for the host side but the half time arrived with the teams scoreless.
The Wicklow side hit the front on the hour mark when Ross Nolan set up Dylan Hosey to shoot to the top corner from 30 yards. Boys pushed for the equaliser and chances fell to Barry O’Driscoll and Dane Lyons but both failed to deliver. The home keeper made a great save from Mick Dowling on 70 minutes but he failed to hold onto Chris Heaslip’s effort on 85 minutes and Heaslip followed up to slot home to give his side a 2-0 win.
Best for Baltinglass were Stephen Heaslip, Kevin Osbourne and Dylan Hosey while for New Oak Shaun Geoghegan, Daniel Hayden and Dane Lyons stood out.
