Parkville United 6
St Fiacc’s FC 1
Parkville’s second string played a home game in Division One for the first time in over a decade as they hosted St Fiaccs at Hawkins Lane.
It didn’t take long for the home side to get the breakthrough when TJ Kavanagh combined with Niall Byrne who made no mistake finding the bottom corner on four minutes.
The visitors rallied and put Parkville under pressure but Paddy Hickey and Henry Hegarty were rock solid at the back. The Tullow side doubled their lead when T.J. Kavanagh sent a piledriver to the net from 20 yards on 17 minutes. At the other end goalie Anto Moran denied the Saints. Following good work by Jason Hunter and John Murphy, Niall Byrne grabbed his second of the game ten minutes before the break for a 3-0 half time lead.
Things did not get much better for the visitors in the second half as Cian Madden split the defence with a through ball for Kavanagh to grab his second just after the restart. Three minutes later Kavanagh completed his hat-trick following good work by Dean Kelly and Michael Browne. The Graiguecullen side threw caution to the wind and got a goal back on the hour. Injuries saw Parkville having to shuffle the deck and Brian Condon had to do a job at right back. With ten minutes remaining Podge McGrath earned Parkville a free kick with Sean Maher’s effort resulting in a corner. Kavanagh’s expert delivery was met by Henry Hegarty who powered home his header for his side’s sixth. Fiacc’s were awarded a penalty in injury time which Anto Moran saved low to the right.
Best for Parkville were Anto Moran, Henry Hegarty, Niall Byrne and man of the match, TJ Kavanagh.
