New Oak Boys 1
St Fiacc's FC 2
Saints just about edged this bottom of the table clash at the Burrin Road venue on Sunday.
The very heavy pitch did not help either team but it was the away side who got the opening goal when a great pass from David Hurley set up Brian O’Rourke to expertly tuck the ball away. The Graiguecullen side kept up the momentum and a brilliant individual goal from Ross Hennessy made it 2-0. The home side gave themselves a lifeline on half time as Dale McGee finished a great counterattack to leave the score 2-1 at the break.
The second half was played out with both teams creating chances with New Oak’s Johnny Furey’s free kick just grazing the crossbar. Both defences held out to keep the score as it was.
Best for Fiacc’s were Denis Hand, Brian O’Rourke and David Hurley while for New Oak Conor May, James Ruth and Dale McGee starred.
