Kilree travelled to Crettyard and kept up their push for league honours with this hard-earned victory.
The visitors got off to the perfect started when they were awarded a penalty when Alan MacDonald was fouled in the box. Alan Salter stepped up and make no mistake for 1-0. The Bagenalstown side kept up the pressure and Alan MacDonald was played through by Eamon Nolan and he duly dispatched the ball to the net on 36 minutes to give his side a comfortable 2-0 half time lead.
The Laois side tried to make a game of it in the second half but suffered another blow when David Kelly set up Alan MacDonald to score again on 65 minutes. The league leaders took the foot off the gas after this and Crettyard were rewarded for their efforts when John Dwyer scored in the dying minutes.
Players of note for Kilree were Paul Kehoe, Alan Salter and Mark MacDonald while best for Crettyard were John Dwyer, Kyle Rice and Paul Kingston.
