Castle Rangers 1
Parkville United 1
Castle Rangers grabbed a late equaliser to share the points with their Tullow counterparts in the Youth Centre on Sunday.
After an even enough start Parkville began to get on top with James Lonergan and John Murphy combining well and Jason Hunter had a goal ruled out for an infringement. Brian Condron and Paddy Hickey went close before Damian Bak made a good save at the other end to deny Rangers. The visitors finally made the breakthrough when T.J. Kavanagh sent a free kick to the top corner on 40 minutes.
The second half was again a close encounter with both sides creating chances. David Orbinski saw his effort ruled out for offside while the same player was denied by a great save by Mick Lawlor in the Castle goal. Parkville’s Cian Madden made his long-awaited return from injury and combined with Padraig McGrath to drop an inch perfect pass to Barry Flynn who saw his effort saved. With time running out Gary Murphy scored on the counterattack to rescue a point for the home side.
Best for Castle were Cain Connolly, Yona Samuel and Rory MacDonald. Best for Parkville were Jason Hunter, Paddy Hickey and TJ Kavanagh.
