St Patrick’s Boys 3
Dolmen Celtic 2
Three goals in a six-minute spell either side of half time saw Pat’s come from behind to win on Sunday.
An open first quarter saw plenty of effort from both sides but little in the way of scoring chances until a lapse at a set piece saw Kevin Power rise unchallenged to head Celtic ahead just before the half hour mark. Pat’s were patient in their reply and constant probing around the Dolmen penalty area yielded a free kick 25 yards out on 41 minutes, Mark Delaney perfectly placing the dead ball beyond the keeper to make it 1-1. Three minutes later the hosts struck again, Owen Murphy cut in from the left, his effort was saved but Nathan Doyle was on hand to tap home and sent the Boys into half time 2-1 up.
Within a minute of the restart it was 3-1 Mazin taking on and beating three defenders before firing home from the edge of the box a magic six-minute spell for St Pat’s as Celtic were left head scratching. To their credit the visitors regrouped and midway through the half Power netted again to leave the minimum between the teams but despite applying all the late pressure Celtic couldn’t find a way past a solid Pat’s rear-guard and the hosts held on to claim a vital three points which put some daylight between them and the relegation places.
Best for St Pat’s included Tomas Murphy and Mark Delaney. Celtic's best included Kevin Power and Patrick Hutton.
